100% i agree, why not let android users enjoy it at least:paddle:
Because the upgrade includes both features and it's not good user experience to have a software feature added that isn't supported by hardware.

The current hardware supports Android Auto. It just doesn't support Cargay. So, all features for Android users would be accessible.

This is, I believe, the heart of the matter. It also makes me think that perhaps the update will never come. We'll see.

Perhaps the software will not operate at all if it does not sense the correct hardware. Either way, Ford (rightly) will not ship software that has non-working functions enabled. Sorry, that's the way it is.

There are late build 2016 cars running ONLY Android Auto. So that is not the case.

While word has been anecdotal, can you confirm this conclusively with proof?

I have an April built 16 and it does not have android auto. Ford needs to tell us something more than by the end of summer. At this point it's just leading us on. It can't take that damn long to make some USB ports.

You only need the USB if you are using car play.. it is not for Android Auto

Right I do understand that. Not sure how to activate it though. I'm on version 2.0 software.

It is n app you have to install from the play store.. and then plug your phone in with a usb and you should get a notification for auto once you plug in

But this is only with an upgraded version of Sync correct? Just loaded AA on my new Note 7 - will plug it on today on the way home to see what happens.
