I've never taken my phone out of my pocket while driving and don't plan to start. Mustang infotainment doesn't do wireless Android Auto.

So checking in to see if anyone makes (or will soon make) an intermediate device that stays plugged into the car but wirelessly links to an android phone that supports wireless android Auto. Basically so the car thinks the phone in my pocket is physically plugged in.

In the same boat. Hope we can find something. It's weird as i have an Explorer 2011 and have Bluetooth connection.

Looks cool but is it really that big a deal to keep a cord in your center console and plug it in and it's done? Even charges your phone at the same time

Pretty common for many things people do or don't do to not be a big deal. 🙂

I would buy it once it becomes more readily available. I am all for the convenience factor. I am always forgetting my phone in the car because I have it plugged into the center armrest cubby. You know the saying, "out of sight, out of mind"? Well I am "out of sight" and also "out of my mind" :cwl:.

I'm sure that this AAwireless box is doing is just a Wifi transmitter. The reason most Android Auto systems are not wireless is because Android Auto transfers too much data for just a Bluetooth connection. The amount of data transfer required WiFi. Which most head units do not have. Some of the aftermarket head units are starting to offer this but they are close to $1000. The other downside to running Android Auto wireless on the WiFi is the power use. On longer drives you will use up your phone battery pretty quickly.

I haven't received it yet but I was one of the first 200 so supposedly I should have it soon. I will let you know if it works.

How do you charge your phone in the car?

I'm not out here to change your mind if you want to pay upwards of $400 for a slower interface, but I personally do not find it at all difficult to keep a wire in the car and plug my phone in. Takes of all 5 seconds. Plus the added benefit of charging my phone.

Android Auto is stock on Sync 3 cars yes.
Android Auto WIRELESS is not built into any of them.
I misread that since it was linked to an article. Thought they were saying these were wireless compatibles. My bad!

I have had android auto in the previous 3 vehicles and always plugged it in so I'm used to it. With this mustang its driving me a little nuts getting used to the keyless everything haha. I never know if my car is truly locked so I always bust out the fob and hear the lock horn.

Wireless android auto would be pretty cool but I like charging my phone at the same time so it stays in the rear cup holder plugged in with a right angle cord.
