I noticed the same thing on mine. I like having them on there with padding on the underside to tame the injector ticking, so I shaved off about 1/8" and repainted.

Man my car rattles( detonates) on the 2-3 and every shift after at WOT and goes full KR and lays over been fighting it....I got so excited when I started reading this before I realized it was a gen. 2 with covers I don't run...i was told not to by Evolution

Is anything else hitting? Headers? I know for me my passenger side catch can was getting smashed by the valve cover on shifts and I had to make some clever mounting modifications.
