I was comparing my plastic elbow to Livernois's picture above. I'm assuming the molded venturi part was where the dremel marks were. My elbow doesn't have any molded parts inside...staring at it right now.
Airaid with molded insert measures at around 88mm, with it cut out the tube is now open to about 108mm. With it cut out it obviously requires a tune for the new size.

Yup, have an appointment tomorrow for tune, headers, intake install. I had my dremel out ready to cut out the insert before I opened the box. Airaid saved me some time.

Thanks for the info...measures about 108mm straight and smooth as you said.

Looks like a quality piece. Glad I switched to this from the PMAS intake debacle I had.

Must be something new they are doing. I've already cut a few out and adjusted the maf curve for it, there are small gains to be had from doing it.

Ordered it from Lethal and Airaid dropped shipped directly to Lethal in Florida. I was tracking it and thought it was weird that it didn't come directly to me. I called Lethal and Airaid said they couldn't ship this intake to California because of emissions. I'm wondering if they only directly sell the Venturi Molded version in California because of our strict emission laws here. I'm guessing this maybe the explaination...or I might be completely wrong.

I dont believe the intake like most of the other ones are smog legal so that is why they wouldn't ship it to Cali.

cbrtrx cut mine out and retuned it recently and feels as if it made a differance and sounds louder as well. :headbang: feels like it hits harder down low as well. i have the track only kit on mine.

Since the curve is the same as JLT with the insert cut could I just run a tune for JLT?

Would it hurt to start with a JLT canned tune and data log from there to get fine tuned?

Also is the insert cut out area on the filter side or the TB side?

I have tuned both and the curve is not the same, close but not the same.
Cut the insert out and sanded it last night. Thanks for the tips. It was harder than I thought but well worth it. That Dremel gets damn hot.
