So after purchasing the airaid cai for my gt and ordering a bama tune noting that I was going to remove the insert I found out its molded to the tube permanently. Do you think me cutting it out with a dremil or something similar would work? Or am I gonna have to spend more money to buy the race tube? Thanks

Wait!?! What!?! I told AM MONTHS ago that their tuning form had that option to remove the insert on the Airaid intake, even though the current Airaid's have the MVT inserts molded permanently to the intake tube. They said they would update the form so that others would know what to expect. Hell, they even sent me a T-shirt for spotting it. I talked to an Airaid representative about 3 weeks ago and asked what the best way to remove the insert was and he recommended a Dremel with a small cutting wheel.

Between having to cut something that I was going to sell anyway when I supercharge my car, and not knowing the inner diameter of the MAF housing once the insert was removed, I just sold the damn thing and bought a JLT.

A copy of the email I received from the Airaid rep:

Subject: RE: 2015 Mustang GT 5.0 Intake
Date: Mon, 13 Apr 2015 17:10:13 +0000

Thank you for your email. To cut the molded in venture tube I would recommend something like a Dremel tool with a small cut off wheel. Unfortunately there is no seam to follow. Please note that once you cut this out you are not able to reinstall it and will need a tune on the vehicle at all times.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

He isn't lying about needing that tune either. You run the car with an intake with a bigger MAF housing while its on a tune calling for the stock intake and your car will idle something terrible, I've tried it.

We have been offering a tune for the cutout for a long time! The cool thing that we found on a car that we had on the dyno is that the Airaid actually makes the exact same line for line power as the tune required JLT. Since we posted about that on the forums we have have several clients request us to cutout and tune their cars for them!

Wish I had known about that service. My Airaid looked better under the hood than my JLT does. Meh, it's gone now.

Just go the Airaid and was going to remove the Molded Venturi part but low nad behold its missing. Looks like Airaid took it out for the 2015 GT intakes. I think that maybe thanks to you Vile!

I was comparing my plastic elbow to Livernois's picture above. I'm assuming the molded venturi part was where the dremel marks were. My elbow doesn't have any molded parts inside...staring at it right now.
