The Airaid is dry but design. K&N is oiled by design.

Weeelllll, I guess it depends. There’s two part number for our car.

863-399 is dry.
860-512 is oiled.

If like me, I thought they were just dry and bought the only one on the Steeda site…which is oiled.

Dry is better, easier to clean and tighter weave.

I’ve used oiled K&N in cars, trucks and motorcycles for years. Just a slight pain with the oiling thing.
Maybe get a refund and buy the oil free design??

So the Ford one is for sure dry? I did notice a price difference on the Steeda site; the Ford one used to be more expensive. Now they're about the same.

The FP filter is likely made by K&N or Airaid. The FP oiled drop in filter is K&N. I’ve used both dry and oiled and can’t tell a major difference.

The K & N and the oiled filters will filter out rocks and birds. The dry filter is much better filtration wise. I prefer them over the ring and valve job while I drive.

I’m ready to make the upgrade from the stock paper filter as well. At my local track, a reputable technician said dry filter would theoretically result in more airflow = better performance, but the oiled filter would be better at catching the finer particulates and have no noticeable performance difference.
