As you say, "they just have more money to blow"...exactly right, what you're saying is they're rich and can afford to "blow". So you buy an expensive car because, "A Fool and his money will soon part". I just love "auto snobs" and wonder why you're cruising a Mustang Forum? Could it be the BMW sites are less exciting? Or could all those BMW owners be to busy "blowing their money" to discuss their over-priced cars?
Unless people on here lied, may make near or over $100,000... mustang is a good deal. Even if you have "money to blow".

i am a college student so i cant even afford any of those cars. i currently drive a bmw 2002 325xi, but i plan on getting the mustang v6 or eco boost. thats the main reason why i am here. Most people tend to buy cars that they can afford. the same principles goes to rich people. if you were a multi millionaire, i am assuming that you will most likely buy an over priced car too!! am i telling a lie? same goes to wardrobe and house. you will be rocking designer clothing's and and living in a mansion. why? because you can afford to do so. since i cant afford a mustang gt, gt owners must be foolish for spending their money on a monster v8. why not just get a Prius right?

One of the biggest sellers right now (or let my car friend in car sells tell it) is GAP insurance. Tells me people are buying more car than they can afford.

Maybe the joke is on me and they are investing the money they should be using for down payment because the rates are so low.

Hi Gabriox and I am glad that you are interested in Mustangs. I did not mean to imply that everyone is not welcome to express their opinions. It's just that there are "auto snobs" that believe that what you pay for a car makes it have more intrinsic value just because it's expensive. I have had 10 Mustangs in the last 50 years and I've loved them all. I've had 9 V-8s before I got my present 2015 V-6 vert. Mustangs are not for everyone but I have gotten great satisfaction owning them over all these years. All my friends drive Porches, MBs, Vetts, and BMWs...and they cannot understand how I could possibly drive such a "common car". I argue with them constantly how their rides are such a waste of money. And they really think I've "wigged out" lately to have traded in a 2013 modded out GT vert to get a 2015 V-6 vert...oh, how could I stoop so low, I expect they must wonder. I take issue with your statement that rich people waste money on cars because they have money to "blow". I can afford to drive anything out there without taking out a loan...but I chose to buy my great value Mustang convertible because I think I know the value of a dollar...or at least my dollars. :)

I'm a very safe driver. Go exactly the speed limit, and really only pass people if they're driving recklessly and endangering me by how distracted / swervy they are. I'll floor it to the speed limit sometimes, but I don't go over pretty much ever, just isnt worth it in my eyes.

People driving really slow is dangerous, just like people driving too fast is also dangerous. There's a balance, as with everything. Ive liked my Mustangs because I actually feel that I am better able to avoid the morons of the road in one: be it with the brakes, or good turning or the passing ability. There's several times that someone was driving recklessly and the only reason they didn't crash into me was because I was in a sports car and the car could react as quickly as I could.

Maybe just a little, but mostly serious. I think the indecisive driver is the dangerous one.
Yes the indecisive driver is truely the dangerous one and remember also that "He who hesitates is lost". We only have to hope he doesn't take us out too.

you sir are a very wise man. :hail:what made you consider the v6 over the eco boost? i am leaning towards the v6 because i don't trust turbo engines. And the ecoboost already has a recall.

Well thanks for the compliment but I'm not so sure I am wise. I do think that I know a bit about Mustangs though. OK to answer your question about engine choice, first let me say that I presently own two EB powered Ford vehicles( a 2.0 Escape and a Ford 150 with 3.5EB) ; and secondly I have owned in the past two vehicles with the dependable 3.7L engine. Both of my 3.7L engines went over 150,000 miles on them without a wrench laid on them except oil changes. No muss, no fuss, dependable and bulletproof all on regular unleaded. My only problem with the EBs has been some stumbling when the ambient temperature is over 100* which it frequently is here in Austin,Texas. And they run so much better on the more expensive fuel. As I have already said, I do recommend all three of the engines available for the Mustang. I have never had a V-6 Mustang before...nine V-8s in a row over all these years. I went to a dealer looking for a fully optioned GT convertible and drove home with a base V-6 convertible. I didn't even test drive it. I knew what 300HP feels like as that amount of HP is more than 7 of my former owned GTs. Did I know about the 3.7L? Hell yes I did, it had never let me down with it's dependability. So I chose the cheaper Vert over the GT vert and the EB vert. Yes, I could've had the more expensive Mustang with all the "bells and Whistles", but I chose the "Plain Jane" convertible. I could have gotten the EB Premium EB convertible but, I chose "simplicity" over "complexity". I didn't like or appreciate how Ford was marketing/pushing two of the engines in the 6G rollout and leaving out the V-6. I've had two Coyote powered Mustangs in the past and loved them, and I presently have two EB powered vehicles...so why not buy the V-6? I know it's a great engine and I like the melodious tone of it's exhaust. So long story short, love my 2015 Ignot Silver V-6 convertible with the custom Purple and Gold leather Katzskins seats. I splurged on the gaudy seats as I am a die hard LSU Tiger fan...Geaux Tigers and Good Luck!:ford:

+1
A quick, responsive car is nice for sure. But even more important in avoiding accidents is being a responsible driver who adheres to speed limits, keeps his distance from others, and pays attention to the road. By the sounds of it, you fit in this category.

This wasn't aimed at me, but opinions abound on the internet... Bottom line is fun reliability on a budget. With so many vehicles available under 20K, for me, any car over 20K has to be justified. (We all do this, just that our baseline numbers differ) Because in the end, all cars get you from point A to point B. So how much of my budget do I want to "throw away" on things that are unnecessary. Once I decided to go over my baseline number of 20K, I wanted to get the engine that would give me peace of mind. The v6 had that in spades over the EB. As for creature comfort seats or upgraded technology - that was a no brainer. I drive my car less than 20 miles/day. Paying additional $ for something that'll get used/enjoyed so sparingly didn't make sense. For me, it makes more sense to put extra coin into a comfy couch and big screen TV, which will get much more use.

A few years ago, my brother-in-law took me for a ride in his new Maserati. He was so proud about the HP and max speed it was capable of. We hit a real Monsoonal rainstorm while out. Both of us started to get wet with the windows up!. He took it back to the dealership to complain...he was bluntly told "you bought a world class sports car for its speed and power. Don't expect the car to be rainproof!"
Since then I have looked at several other 'exotic' sports cars...none of the manufacturers seemed to put much effort on secondary touches such as seals around the doors and windows.

My tennis friend just bought a Lotus Exige because another friend had just bought a new Porche 911. And these guys are all about the so called "exotic autos" , you know "car snobs"...they wouldn't be caught dead in an American Made Auto! Funny thing is, the Exige left the guy on the side of the road 6 times in 1200 miles. He had to hire a lawyer under the Lemon-Law. He got his money back and bought a 370Z vert. He admires my 2015 Mustang convertible but says he needed something "a little bit more upscale"...what a JACKASS! He loves his car but has had to bring it in for a couple of things. I had to mention that I have had no problems. He didn't hear me. He's kinda miffed that he's not driving "an exotic" now that he settled on a 370Z. It never would occur to this "car snob" to drive American...like I said, a JACKASS!

Ok, I don't own a mustang yet. Iam planning on getting the v6 or eco boost in the future. Lately I have been butting head with aggressive 6 gen mustang drivers. They just like to show off their cars. I almost had an accident with one. An aggressive woman wanted to overtake me in one of those double lanes that merge into a single lane. Despite the fact I was way ahead of her and the space to overtake was diminishing. We almost collided into each other. :frusty: And her car was a v6. Anyways I saw a fantastic gt pp in Potomac, Maryland with a large purple decal saying girl driven. That was hot. :hail: I also saw a blue eco boost in the same area. Sorry about my English.

I live and work in Germantown area as well. I have seen only one S550 in the past 3 weeks I have been here. Don't judge me for what I am about to tell you but I drive aggressive as well lol. It's more like safe and controlled aggressive.
