I have my 2019 GT with 3000m on the odometer with the MT82 manuel transmission. I have seen articles and videos about this transmission and its issues. Mainly with the 3rd and 4th shift fork. I baby the car by shifting around 3500rpm and really only take it out on nice days. Any recommendations to help prevent a future gear lock out or some other issue?

Any advice would help. Trying to keep this car for a while

I have the same gearbox in my Bullitt. I have read all the same articles but my experience is that it is a bit notchy when cold but once warmed up, no issues. I changed the transmission fluid as suggested by a number of people but I cannot say that made any difference.
Not the smoothest change I have experienced but really, not that bad. Drive positively., engage the clutch fully and all should be well.

I make sure the clutch is pressed in fully and I take a breath between shifts. I was told that's best practice.

Based on the way you drive your car, you should never have an issue with gear lockout. If you ever start revving the engine to 7000+ rpm and shifting quick, you might experience lockout.

It's still on warranty and not made of glass. If the shift fork is destined to break (it won't), I would rather break it early and get fixed through warranty.

Just enjoy it.

Most I've ever done was 4500rpm. That's for the once in a while that I put in sport plus mode. Otherwise I just cruise in it

Honestly, the Mustang might just not be the correct car for you. Perhaps you should consider a different vehicle, one that suits your wants and needs a little better.

Why would you do that to this magnificent car??

it's not a collectors car, it's a sports car. Sure you can put it in a glass box, but it will still be one of hundreds of thousands of similar mass produced mustangs.

It only starts waking up at this rpm and you're not doing any good to your car by driving it on idle.

You at least have to run 3rd gear out to redline once during ownership of your car. Be forewarned though, once you do, you will do it over and over and over again. Like Tosha said, the car is just waking up at 4500 rpm. Go find a nice long deserted stretch of road and give it a go. Come back and tell us what you thought about the experience afterward.
