I cannot verify it's accuracy.
However, it seems to be very detailed and I cannot find fault with the details he does give. I'd be confident enough, if I didn't already have paddles, to buy a wheel with them and give it a try. Really, why would someone go to that length and that much detail to try and hoax random people. I would buy a wheel as close to my model year as possible though and an 18+ for sure.

I haven't watched this yet, but I think it'll be more helpful, maybe. This is on my short term list of things to do.

In fact, I just ordered a used wheel off eBay, for $129. I'd like to have gotten one cheaper but didn't see any right off. I'll let y'all know how it goes. It's from a 2019 GT.

If what is accurate?

I don’t see anything in the post.

It’s a link to an article describing how to add paddle shifters to a late model Mustang that does not have them. According to the author they are fully supported either by swapping in another steering wheel with them or just replacing a few parts from another steering wheel. Ford probably saved $2 omitting them.

Thanks for posting that video. Did not find it. Do we know which years share the same horn connector?

I don’t have the answer to that, but I would think 15-17, and 18-23. But, sometimes things change in the middle of a model year, too. It looks pretty easy on the video, including changing the connector if needed.

I will plan on doing this by Saturday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

A question I have is whether or not we can see what gear we are in, if we down or upshift. I think I read somewhere that the display in the base models don’t have that capability. I remember seeing a setting for showing what gear you‘re in, in Forscan. So I’ll try enabling it after install.

If you watch the video to the end at the 8:20 mark he goes for a drive and points out the gears do in fact display. Which I think could be right because with the paddle shifters stock it may not display the gear until you activate the paddle even in S mode.

Oooh. Nice! The wheel should be here tomorrow, according to UPS. I'll follow this video, which is very close to the originally posted instructions. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have no idea if any of that is true or not.

But I can tell you as someone who always thought paddle shifters were cool. I find that I almost never use mine. Partly due to how "slow" they actually engage and partly due to the 10R80.
When I do use them, I really only downshift to make a hill easier and to not lug the engine.

Could I ask your model and year? I see 21 in your sig. I noticed a significant difference between the transmission in my 22 compared to the 20 I traded in. The 22 is better. I noticed the sluggishness in my 20 EB. I have read others who claim no lag when shifting the paddles. So I wonder if random build quality or if model year matters or everyone’s tolerance is different.

2021 Ecoboost.. not sure on the package type. I do have the FP Tune installed, but I have not noticed improved the paddle shifter response

Update: The wheel should be here today. I struggled with the airbag to see which bolt mounts the steering wheel. I finally got it. I would definitely use a flathead screwdriver and keep the tip horizontal. As you're pressing on the clip, keep the screwdriver tip angled towards the dash, to prevent you from slipping off the clip.

Anyway, I have the torx-plus bolt. I have a T50 bit, but I don't know if I want to try it. I should play it safe and order a TP50 bit on Amazon. Nobody locally knows what torx-plus is. Why, Ford? Why?

Yeah I would order the torx plus bit. I plan to.
