If y'all have a Harbor Freight near you they will probably have torx+ bits. I get quite a few "1 off" tools from them and their quality has went up a good bit in recent years.

Everything here is E and T. No TP. Harbor Freight is the first place I went. I love that store.

I did order on Amazon. It'll be here tomorrow. I have a feeling the steering wheel won't be here until tomorrow either. It says it's almost here. LOL. I guess it's still possible since that truck originates in my town. But, still.

Okay... the steering wheel arrived. Everything was a piece of cake. I did use a regular torx bit. My impact driver didn't have enough torque to break it loose, but a socket wrench with extension did the trick.

Everything works. There is only the slightest of delays in shifting. Once I get used to it and time it right, shouldn't be a big deal at all.

That’s awesome. Did you swap the whole wheel or disassemble everything and just swap the paddles and housing? Any issues with the connectors? Do you know the model year of the wheel?

It was from a 2019 GT. The horn connector was the same and the media and info display buttons were on the correct sides. I took everything apart and swapped it over, because one of the cruise control buttons was missing. To get that out, you have to take the media control module out anyway. Plus, the wheel looked like it was 4-5 years old. Once you get the airbag off, the rest is easy.

Completed this today. How far did you tighten steering wheel bolt? Using a torque wrench was able to tighten to 30-40 lbs. I thought I read somewhere 35 lbs of torque was spec. I also used blue locite and feel like I applied more force to tighten than I did to loosen.

Nice to see this thread today, I just ordered a wheel (out of a 2019 GT with 11k miles) yesterday that's supposed to get here Wednesday or Thursday so I'll get it installed next week hopefully with no issues. I did read some posts here and there about a different connector that may need to be adjusted so that's all I'm worried about but hoping to just swap the whole thing over.

That’s what I did. If the connectors match it’s pretty easy. The hardest part for me was releasing the clip on the left side of air bag.

I also read the bolt may have changed at some point. My 22 has a TP 50 Torx plus.

35 is what I did, I also drenched the bolt with blue loctite since I didn't want any backing out

You don't need to "drench" a fastener in locktite. Extra threadlocker doesn't equal extra strength. A drop or two is more than enough to fill the miniscule gaps between the threads.
If you want extra strength you need to use a different product. Next time consider using the new orange loctite. It has the strength of red but releasability of blue.
