I have a 2017 Mustang V6 that came with the 4 inch base sync stereo. Recently I upgraded the stereo to an aftermarket Pioneer one that supports idatalink and will show vehicle data. I can see all of my vehicle data such as speed, rpm, outside temp etc, however I cannot adjust the climate controls as the option on the stereo is grayed out. I'm assuming this is because my stock stereo did not support on screen climate controls so this is why I cannot adjust them. My question is, if I get a Forscan tool am I able to enable automatic climate controls to where I can adjust them on my aftermarket stereo? Thanks

You can "try" it. Look up the codes that would typically indicate a sync 3, then see if it makes any difference. If you have an option inside the Pio to indicate if you have a premium trim, you may have luck with that as well.

I had done the Scosche aftermarket myself with a Sony head unit. With that, I also had to get a hold of the premium toggles to enable the drive modes, but it was done successfully. For the climate controls however, it was an actual setting in the new Scosche panel that I changed. I indicated dual zones, even if in reality my V6 was single at best. It did work out tho, with both auto temp and the drive modes.

I will have to give it a try. I know that the kit I got I had to program my idatalink maestro unit for the 4 inch screen to retain SWC, backup camera, etc, maybe I could try reprogramming it for 8 inch sync? I know that a lot of information that I read said that those settings were in the APIM module which I removed from the car when installing the new stereo. When you installed your new stereo, did you leave your APIM module installed in the vehicle?

Update: I reflashed my Maestro unit and I now have climate options, however oddly enough I can control everything except for Fan Speed, Auto climate, and Temperature. The even odder thing is that if I go turn on say max A/C the lights on the physical climate cluster will flash for a second like it is trying to adjust but then it goes back to the lowest setting.
