Maybe it's a Bullitt thing. When the engine is cold, the RPM's jump up to 1250(?) which I know is normal, and it's obvious the exhaust opens up a little more than the standard quiet setting. The exhaust valve starts to close as the RPM's go down. Once they're down to normal (~750, maybe) the car sounds quiet like it should. A "warm" star up is plenty quiet, like what you guys are describing.

If I get a chance I'll try to get a video next week. Need someone starting the car and someone making the video showing the exhaust valve opening so I'm not sure when I'd be able to do it. Of course, the engine needs to be cold, too. A video showing the exact RPM's wouldn't hurt.

Cold start and warm start are two different things.... so the car's exhaust reacts differently.

My Bullitt quiet start works maybe one time in five, usually the one time is when you DON'T want it to work like in a gas station or outside a bar when people are watching. The other four times when you you DO want it to work it doesn't, I've even gone into the menu, made sure quiet start is selected and as soon as I hit the start button it defaults to normal. Luckily I don't have any neighbours so I'm not going to bother the dealer with it just yet, I'm guessing a software update will sort it at some point in the future.

If you try to make a change just before you start up, it won't take it. Have to turn the car off completely, then start it.

I love the way it sounds when it starts. No way am I going to try and muzzle that. My car is almost a year old, and it's never been in quiet mode.
