So, as the title says I'm a bit ticked off.:mad::mad:.
I've been waiting a few days to post to let the steam die down but I'm still pretty furious. I'll explain : I ordered in a Ruby Red Ecoboost PP car in August. I had my current car appraised and was given a trade in value that was agreed upon, I would owe a little bit on it but it was alright by me. They agreed to MSRP on the car. So the order was put in, we shake hands and I get an order form.

Fast forward three long months of waiting later my car arrives, but they have no record of it being customer ordered, apparently it was ordered as a stock car, even though I was given the VIN.
They are adding a $7,000 ADM and offering me $2500 less on my trade in now. Safe to say I am beyond FURIOUS. This would have been my THIRD mustang purchase from them, and my father has been buying trucks from them for over 20 years. It blows my mind how much greed some of these dealers have. I told them keep the car and walked out.

Does anyone know a quality dealer in the southflorida area that isn't going to try to rob a potential repeat customer? Maybe even one a bit further north would be alright.

Thanks!

Talk to Justspeed7 on here, he is at a dealer in Orlando. If you need further south I have a Ft Lauderdale dealer I deal with personally. and bought many cars from and walked in with an EAA xplan code no questions asked and got a premium GT at invoice price- just the normal couple hundred buck destination fee.

Hell, even MSRP is too much. Sign up for one of the X-Plan deals - Mustang Club of America ($50), Experimental Aircraft Association ($40) - if you don't already qualify through your employer.

Tell the dealer when you walk on the lot that you are eligible for X-Plan. They will either accept it or not (most seem to). If they accept X-Plan, your pricing is fixed. The only negotiable issues remaining would be the value of your trade, financing, and whether you want any of the "dealer add ons" that the Finance Manager tries to talk you into.

X-Plan pricing is predetermined, and calculates as (invoice - .4%) + $275 + "doc fees", which are capped at a maximum of $100.

There is a sticky thread here that goes into a great deal of detail on X-Plan. Note that some of the early posts mistakenly suggest that there is a 60 day waiting period before you can use the benefits. This is not true. The requirement is that you sign up for a membership period of at least 60 days. Both MCA and EAA offer 1 year memberships, so that is a non-issue.

For the GT that I ordered, that works out to about $2,600 below MSRP, or about $800 over invoice.

Also, there is a $500 incentive available till 12/1/14 for all buyers, EAA is offering a $750 discount for members through 1/3/15, and there may be others.

There really just isn't any reason to pay MSRP, much less ADM above MSRP.

Good luck, whichever way you go.

I have heard that some dealers don't want to accept X-Plan on cars that they have sitting on the lot, and only allow it for retail orders, but I would imagine that would be the exception rather than the rule.

I asked this specific question at my dealer yesterday, because they have a GT sitting there which is almost exactly the one I ordered, save for it being an automatic. I have my heart set on the manual, but that car is *so* freaking good looking, I almost talked myself into settling for "close enough".

Luckily, my wife was with me. She kept leaning into my ear and saying "Don't do it - you know you are going to hate yourself for not holding out for the car you want, and pretty soon you will start hating the car for not being what you wanted...."

Best bet is to try to find someone who wants to work with you, and not rush into something just for the thrill of getting it done. Remember that they are building hundreds of these things every week. The right car, at the right price, is out there.

Some dealers are just ridiculous! Sorry to hear about your troubles but it sounds like you should end up better off now, although you'll have to wait a bit longer than you had wanted. Another person helped by this forum, its great to see

You should at least alert the owner to what his sales staff did to you.

The trade-in change doesn't surprise me (but if the car didn't incur any damage a difference of 2500 is too much). I have the luxury of numerous dealers in my area and I was really surprised at the different approaches they all took. One guy was well above MSRP and another was under. Since I used x-plan I judged all the dealers on their customer service. I even told them that up front and still had shoddy service with a few!
