That's just the geek end, is there any hardware, wiring/pinning, harness costs? It sounds like the PCM just overwrites the OE PCM, but I'm guessing the only way to do that WITH sensor inputs is some additional piggy back or add in.

MOTEC completely replaces the OE PCM. So you have the costs of the unit, the firmware, the harness, the installation and eventually the tuning/support.

Unless they've figured out some way to pin/jump in signals from the ethanol sensor to the OE PCM there has to be a secondary unit
The ethanol sensor has to be added to the OEM CAN bus. That’s accomplished with the Zeitronix ECA-2 CAN adapter. That adapter needs to be programmed (very easy to do) and then attached to the CAN bus. The easiest way to add it to the CAN bus is to use an OBD2 port adapter. Then a switch is flipped in the PCMTEC custom OS which tells their custom logic to look for that ethanol sensor signal on the CAN bus.

The CAN bus ethanol sensor is a very common way across the aftermarket industry to add the sensor to OEM PCMs that do not have that capability.

The ECA-2 is about $400 and the OBD2 adapter is about $18. Some basic wiring to get it all up and running and that’s it for electronics added to the car.

Depending on where you purchase from pricing will vary. The two main items are the Zeitronix ECA2 and the Continental Ethanol sensor.

It wires directly into the canbus system. It can be done with a sandwich plate, or you could wire it directly to the HS1 CAN network.

You can then tune the car using a custom set of tables via the PCMTEC wizard (you choose which tables to use) or use the inferred logic and tables like an 'OEM' Flex tune except with FFV learning disabled so it use the value sent via canbus.

I'm about $700 into hardware to run the canbus function of PCMTEC.

64 bit flash device, flex fuel mount and fuel fittings, Zeitronix canbus box, flex fuel sensor, ethanol guage , harnesses, and OBD2 passthrough so I can keep my nguage plugged in and logging.
