Another part to my thread. I've always been told that all brands of gas are the same since this will be my first fill up. What gas station brands are the best. I usually use Sam's. Since this is my first high performance car I'm trying use the best so hope no one thinks I'm dumb about gas etc.

Higher octane gas only becomes an issue when approaching wide open throttle. At partial throttle the engine does not approach the maximum compression ratio and pre-ignition is not likely.
...cylinder pressure...

they are all not the same. some going to have more ethanol than others...typically...but getting gas a sams is no different probably than getting gas a joe blows.

octane type and where you buy your gas are the least of your worries

And as for additives that some gas stations said will do better at keeping the carbon from building up?

1% horsepower loss with 87. i ran 93 till 3000 miles in when I realized I only needed 87. saw nothing go away besides 1-2 mpg, which is still more cost efficient.

but now, my lund tune should arrive today and it will require 93....i figure ill bounce between the lund tune and stock tune so I can continue to run 87 octane for daily driving
How are you going to run a stock tune with the JLT?

While I don't get the need to switch to a stock tune for the daily drive, if you are going to do that, why not get Lund to make you an 87/JLT tune as well?

I was only running midgrade, which is usually 89 octane here. I then tried a tank of 87, could tell no difference and have been running it most recently. Every now and then I will fill up with premium if it is an Exxon, BP, or Shell with no ethanol in their premium.

The best battle for carbon buildup is to take your car out once a week and drive the ever living shit out of it.:headbang:

V6 and V8 will have less than 5% performance loss between 87 and 93. Not worth the extra $$$ unless your track racing.

However, the ecoboost loses around 15-20% performance which makes it worth it. Here in Canada we have 94 which gives mine even more power.

You're only saving like $8 max per fillup- if there is a 50cent difference in regular and premium. If it bothers you, it's probably not worth the savings.
