Yup...the reason I didn't get it...didn't seem like that ever got resolved. Glad I waited...I really like this one we have in here.

might have been covered, but does the sound mute when the backup camera comes on? i read somewhere one of the other china units did that.
It does not, but you can make it mute if you want it to.

Is there a way to contact the person looking for beta testers for this head unit? I've been waiting on a 8" android designed unit for the S550 and have been with android since the birth of the little green fellah, and would LOVE to get my hands on this :clap2: & help the progress of this Company!
Email them via their website.

I was reading in the 10" horizontal thread that some had trouble with backup camera due to the canbus adapter being defective. I guess that would be the little brick shaped device on this unit?
So far, it works great.

If I recall the 10 horizontal had issues with the back up camera being "zoomed in"
This one is not zoomed luckily!

Sounds like it's already ahead of the other options out there, id like to know how the pre amp outputs perform if possible, but I'd assume they work ok.

Can you Bluetooth directly from the unit using the units android settings or is it some kind of app? Native android Bluetooth access can be helpful getting connect to finicky devices like obd dongles.

Ya I was hoping that too but Nagare said his installers didn't use those and tapped rear speaker wire for signal. And HotBadgerFart is a straight up remove replace, no amps.

Direct bluetooth using settings, phone calls go through, I haven't seen texts pop up yet so that might be a limiting issue for some people unless they use an app.

I know HotBadgerFart connected his OBD to the unit and also had his phone paired afterwards without a problem.

I just emailed them to see if I can join, I mean its going to be another 3-4 weeks before I can get the cable and harness to finish the sync 3 swap so I'd like to test this out in the meantime. The only concern I have and I asked in my email is whether or not the backup sensors would still work.

He emailed me back and said they have the interface for the sensors but dont have a car to test it out on yet. He also said the factory is closed for 3 weeks so they are waiting for them to reopen before starting the beta.

Thanks to the early beta testers. This might be the stable HU I've been waiting for. If you get the chance can you take a picture showing the HVAC 10 second pop up you get? Also, would like to see a video of the boot up when possible. How is the sound quality when making a phone call? I emailed to be a beta tester, I hope to be able to help out.

Call quality is great- For the person in the car. The Mic on the other hand, is subpar. Sounds very distant to the person you're calling. I already reported that back to them on my behalf and Nagare's. I also asked if there's a way to disable the HVAC OSD, and they're going to try and remove it for the Beta, as well as a better Mic.

As for booting, there seems to be 2 versions. One is a quick boot, where it just reinitializes the CANBUS and GPS when you get in, and it will show the boot logo for maybe 3 seconds. There's also the "cold boot" where it takes about 15 seconds of boot logo, then shows the home screen, and it starts initializing the GPS and CANBUS again, so you see the boot logo for 2-3 seconds and it's ready.

I haven't figured out the science behind it, but already reported it, and waiting for updates.

Also, something I noticed about this that is much better than the Tesla...

When I used remote start with the Tesla, it always put the HVAC on whatever the last setting was. Here in Eastern NC, we may have a 75 degree day, and a 22 degree overnight, so that was inconvenient. This one still retains the Auto HVAC feature, so if it's cold out, it turns your front and rear defrost on, as well as heat.

I'm gonna start referring to Nagare and I as "Alpha Testers."

I am tapped into my rear shelf speakers as well. While I don't have the patience to run RCA's from the head unit to the trunk (mainly because I'm 6' and 260lbs) I'm pretty sure they are line level outputs. I'm also pretty sure they are full-range outputs, not specifically "Subwoofer Outputs," and will still require an amp with a LPF (which most amps have anyways) If I can find a way to test them while I'm in there this weekend making modifications, I will report back.

I know there are a bunch of different versions for everything, but what do you mean for this? If you're just talking the beeping when you get close, yes they work.

And he just said exactly what I was going to say about the call quality, I hear people clearly but not so much on their end.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram that includes the built in mic for the car? It might be a cool test to just tap in to that if it is something we can easily get to without destroying anything.

I believe the wires are somewhere in the 54 Pin SYNC connector. That's all I've got lol.

I have pretty much all the wiring diagrams from the service manual...I'll look when I get home as they are on the home pc.
