I liked the shifting in the SS better and would prefer a Tremec in the Mustang over the MT82.
Huh. I guess we have opposite opinions on that. Although my opinion is colored by my 2015 GT that had the redesigned MT-82 and my subsequent purchase of the GT350 with Tremec transmission as well as my past experiences with a couple different 2011 Mustangs and only test drives of Camaros. I by far prefer the MT-82 - especially the 2015+ version - to the Tremecs in Camaros. I somewhat prefer the MT-82 to the Tremec in my GT350.

Thats an odd preference haha. What do you like more about the MT-82?

Shorter shifts, more positive engagement feel, smoother shifts.

The Tremec in the GT350 (at least mine) requires quite a bit of shift force to engage the gears. It is actually very similar to the transmission in my 350z. Once in gear it is very secure, but you need to put a bit of force behind the shift. It feels robust. The MT-82 is smoother and has a lighter feel. At least the one I drove. It's always possible that unit to unit variability colors the perception.

Good point. Both my 2011 Mustangs with MT-82s had harsh shifts especially in sequential shifting when it was cold outside. It's been a while since I drove those and my memory of them being a PITA decreases over time. I remember I would start in second and skip shift for the first 5-10 minutes of driving in below zero temperatures back when I had those cars.

The 2015 was a completely different experience. I know the transmission was redesigned, but I also owned that car from new, so there were no ham-handed test drivers or previous owners that could have hammered on it too much.

The longer I own the GT350 the more I like the transmission. Probably partially because it's getting broken in and partially because my memories of the 2015 GT are fading.

Shame that GM hates the military, I'd like to test drive one but that won't happen until they start selling them in Europe probably.
It is in reference to GM not working with Military Autosource for service members stationed overseas (like Ford and Chrysler). I am not sure if it has more to do with GM, Military Autosource, or a combination of both. I can say firsthand though that GM does not hate the military as they do offer discounts for military members stationed stateside.

That's the thing. I can't figure out what it is that makes me like it more. I never would have thought I would own a gm car. But once I found out they were throwing the corvette engine in it, I have it a shot and it impressed me. I guess the sound of the camaro is better than my mustang even with its magnaflow catback. The engine is crazy responsive and makes so much torque. I'm doing the engine break in and I haven't even really noticed myself wanting more torque. I am only going up to 4k rpms and the thing just flies still. The steering response I would was a tad better in the mustang, but nothing too crazy. I like the my link too and the gauges. The sync 3 system for some reason doesn't always connect to my phones Bluetooth on its own. And when it does, it takes a little bit. Sometimes I have to remove my device from sync and set it up again for it to work. But the my link connects just seconds after turning on the camaro every single time. And I hated the look of the camaro interior from pictures, but once you get it it, it kinda feels futuristic. The seats in the camaro are terrible however. I had a 2 1/2 hr drive yesterday and my lower back started hurting a bit. So I tried to give you a few things right there. I'm still a Ford guy all the way, and I always will be. I love my f250 and I still love my mustang. I just have to give some credit to gm on this one. They made a great car. Either one you buy, your gonna love. It's just a matter of what you like more. And this year, I just happen to like the camaro a bit more than my mustang. But I expect ford to respond in a big way. I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve.
You just listed a bunch of reasons. ;)

Yah I can't wait to see what Ford does. Going to the DC auto show and sitting in both again back to back a few times, bar none the SS visibility is vastly different then the GT but the Camaro just has a bunch of other little things in it. I know it's nothing but even the rear view mirror is top notch in the Camaro..looks/feels like a smart phone. And yes the gauges are awesome. Ford really needs to bring down the F-150 gauges. Even sitting in the Challenger they just have a better instrument cluster and entertainment system.

Performance is great on the SS (on paper, I've never driven one myself) compared to a similarly equipped Mustang. But the Camaros are Much more expensive! SS MSRP $36,300. Mustang GT MSRP $32,395.

I wonder what the MSRP will be on the 1LE package SS will be.

Gotta add the PP to the Mustang to make it comparable in performance.

Not really a good comparison, since the GT PP is more of a "handling/big brake package". Unless the SS in stock form handles much better than a mustang? in that case, base GT with PP is still lower MSRP: $35,790.

I think the price on this camaro option is still a tad expensive compared to the GTPP.

My guess is around 45 grand with the 1ss package! The brake upgrade is 3 grand only, unless gm believes the normal brakes are sufficient for track use then it might be even cheaper.

Guys the brake package is a Dealer installed option. LPO options are a rip off because you get both brake options.

The regular GT stands no chance against the SS in stock form.

The GT with PP really doesn't stand much of a chance against an SS in stock form either. It sure looks damn good though.
