Couple times now I have been getting on it pretty hard and while shifting from 3rd to 4th it has went into 2nd! Today was bad because it actually chirped the tires (as in locking them up almost). I have had many manual cars and have never had this issue. Any ideas?

I've missed third once or twice, never forth... How aggressive are you getting with the stick?

Happened to me once or twice; luckily I wasn't going that fast. Popping the Steeda shifter base bushing bracket in there helped a lot.

It could very well be technic, this time was very aggressive! Had some spirited driving with a friend and his 6.0 G8

Lol, that'll get you.

A shifter upgrade would help a lot. The Steeda bushings would be a good start for around 100 bucks. There's other options like the blowfish bracket too. There's always a good short throw like the MGW that I run too.

Otherwise, remember slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

There's one that installs at the base of the shifter under the car, and another that slips into the transmission mount. Both help to keep the gearbox/shifter from moving under heavy torque.

MGW elimates that. Had similar happen with my '12 pre MGW but the strong springs in the MGW keep the shifter centered in the 3-4 slot

never any troubles...sounds like when you are throwing into 4th you are pulling towards your body. It's likely a habit formed when you throw first to second really hard.

This. And pulling hard towars you going into 2nd will also cause a missed shift.
Talk to MGW about this and you will be surprised at the built in play in the stock shifter.

That's weird... You probably pull it towards you when trying to shift fast... Don't. Lol.

Edit: Just scrolled the thread and saw the same answer. Oops.
