I flew to Grand Rapids, MI to pick up my base OW with blue stripe last Thursday. When I landed, I had a voice mail from my sales guy, Chris that car has just arrived. When I reached showroom, car was inside and looked gorgeous. I was happy and very excited. I started the car, whole showroom echoed with the sound. I smiled and told Chris this is why I am buying this car. My neighbors should know when I leave to work and also when I am back from work.

They prepped my car next day in my presence. Tom Boss, the lead tech (working there for 27 years) did awesome job and explained few things to me as well. By the time I was done, it was already 2:30PM, Friday.

It was cold, light snow flurries but a beautiful day at Grand Rapids. I was little worried about the road condition but when I checked my route, it was fairly good weather throughout my ride back home. So I started my 1300 miles journey with 526 ponies by myself slowly and carefully. This was my first sports car and the most expensive one yet. My route was - US-31 > I-65 > I-24 > I-75 to I-275. At the beginning I followed the 100 miles break in procedures and let it lose little bitafterwards. I didn’t drive crazy at all but it was fun to downshift, hear the sound when RPM went high. I got few thumps up on my way within few hours of driving.

I stopped for gas and red bull at small town in Indiana. Right after I pulled the car, one lady asked – is that a new mustang, it is beautiful. once I was done there and about to take off, one guy waved me and asked me to lower the window. OMG- that brake is huge, nice car –were his words. After talking to him for couple of minutes and explaining about the car, I drove away.

It was almost 9 PM and my body was telling me to find a hotel and call it a day. I crossed the Louisville, KY and took exit to Elizabeth town. I wanted to grab a bite from taco bell as they were open. I parked and needed to back up. I just could not put it in the reverse. Read the manual, did the you tube but no solution. So, I called the Tom Boss, the guy who prepped my car (it was so nice of him to give me his cell and asked me to text and update him about my journey). He told me to pull that thing (don’t know what it is called) and put it in reverse. I guess it is for safety reason they made it this way, the wrangler I drive does not have this feature. I felt little stupid but again, it is all part of learning process.

After a good night sleep, I started driving and was enjoying the ride. Life is not always about good and roses, it is filled with ups and downs. It didn’t take long for me to realize that. Right after I passed Atlanta I was pulled over. I was 88 on 70. Got first ticket in 18 years, thanks to my new Shelby GT350. Also, I noticed a crack in windshield, must have been from road debris. The stripe at the hood was scratched(peeled off) as well.

I stopped for the dinner at the Chinese restaurant. A Cashier/server saw the car and said - ‘it is my dream car’. He went outside to take pictures. I showed him the car inside and out. I was giving him some information about the car and he stopped me and said – This car is made by GOD, it is AWESOME!!!

It was passed 1 AM Sunday morning, when I reached home. I live in town home and was thinking, should I woke up my neighbors. I decided not to wake them up so I kept it in normal mode and pull it to my house. I was physically tired and mentally exhausted but I was satisfied and in peace. Now, I am also a proud owner of 2016 GT350, car that was built by GOD as per the cashier at the Chinese restaurant near Atlanta J.

Dates –
Order Nov 16
Car at dealership Feb 4
Arrival at home Feb 7

Special thanks to –
shelby_r - who found a sweat deal for me, Bossing - for information and guide, FordService - for update, Keller Ford & Chris for treating me so well, and many more who contributes in this forum.

Congratulations. You now own one of the greatest American sports cars ever built. Your Chinese cashier was correct, God did indeed build this car.

Nice. I think a dealership in Louisville has one like that.

Oxmoor has one with black roof, track package car they want 82k lmao. There have been several others sold in the area. There is a magnetic with blue stripes, blue w/black stripes (went to Chicago) and avalanche. I've heard there is a red one running around as well. You also may see a black R running around as someone at one of the plants has one.

Wish I knew you were coming through Louisville, I'd have met you for a meal. I work at Jim Beam and live in Louisville, know of some cool places to eat etc. to add to the experience lol.

I work just about a mile and half away from Keller Ford.
Nice crew there when I first inquired about ordering my car last summer I was 3rd in line so I went looking elsewhere. I guess I should of been more persistent with the sales guy.

Your car looks great enjoy your ride it will bring many smiles and thumbs up over the years you own it.

Cheers

Congrats on the car. Great write up. I love mine live in cold North Dakota and drive it every chance I get. My first sports car also. I think I may have spoiled myself for life. Don't know if I will ever like a car as much as this. Haha
