So I changed the state of charge from 80% to 90% in the bcm on my mustang in forscan and immediately got "Warning: Battery Charging System Needs Servicing".

I assumed as it didn't have time to charge the battery to 90% and put it back.
Warning still present. Took it for a 30 min drive and the alternator is at 14v and battery at 12.5v
Haven't hooked a charger up at any stage.

Would you suggest clearing the dtc and seeing if it goes away? The battery should be basically brand new.

I only just got the car so I'm not keen on tuning it just yet, I just want to get a base line of how it operates and any pitfalls, how, it performs stock and how they logs look stock.

My old s550 I put at 95% and changed the pcm tune to 14.5v outpt when charging to keep the battery alive.

Suggestions?

I would revert the change. The battery settings in the BCM are very unreliable and can vary a lot in ways that ForScan isn't always aware of. ForScan will change one or more bits at specific addresses, but whether those bits are actually correct for your particular vehicle is anyone's guess.
There can be variations in the addresses where the BCM keeps its battery settings, and in the way it interprets them, not only from year to year, but also from a trim level to the next. And they are completely undocumented.

I'm not against ForScan in general. Generally speaking, ForScan is perfectly fine. Most of the changes you can do with it are fine. It's just the battery charging settings that are best left alone.
