Reserved for tweeter specs. 401A tweeter is not the same as other models.(confirmed by below picture by Stoli which matches mine and compared to fortehnguyen tweeter pic in his post. Different part numbers.)

Tweeter and 3.5 appear to be wired in parallel based on the wiring diagram.

If tweeter is:

8 ohm then we have 1.6 ohm at amp
4 ohm then we have 1.33 ohm at amp
2 ohm then we have 1 ohm at amp. (This is interesting). Is stock amp 1 ohm stable? Granted it's low power, but still.

yea I know but its weird they would put in impedances that are way off between systems. If they are paralleling 8ohm on Premium, but the 401A has 2ohm, maybe 401A is in series.

And the plot thickens....

Ajax, did you use the filters that came with the 329's?

Yes, but I don't think I really needed to.

Thanks for the post. I'm very interested in this, if it adds clarity to the system; specifically the mids and vocals.

Yeah I hear you, but if it filters out the lower end it should allow for clearer mids I would think. I'll try it both ways for fun.

Vocals and guitar is much improved. I used the JBL audio tools on my iPad and what looks low now is the highs 8k - 16k. Mids are are nearly 1/3 better than stock in mids 500 - 2k.
The Ford tweeters are terrible.

Thanks for your write-up and impressions. I think I am going to follow your route in the spring.

Do this Mod! If you have the muddy sound issue like me this fixes it.

I installed mine today mostly following ajax's procedure. I did two small changes. First I did not install the filter on the 329s and so did not have to enlarge the opening. Second I used the connector push fit into the original 6.5s and soldered eight inch leads to it instead of ordering the aftermarket connectors. I did the same on my rear 638's already.

Also I was to lazy to go upstairs and get my Dremal so I just used nippers to enlarge the factory holder on the 3.5's.

Honestly, you most likely don't need to replace the factory front 6.5's but for sixty bucks and having that damn door panel off already just do it.

Great mod Ajax, thanks for the inspiration!

Chris

Yeah I'm happy with front sound. Glad you are as well. Still need to do something for bass. I'm looking at the super small Rockford fostgate amps and a stock 8 inch sub upgrade.

What I'm considering:

fostgate PBR300x1
8 " DVC 4 ohm shallow Fosgate sub
