So far I am definitely enjoying it. 6th gear is 2900 rpms at 80mph... So Highway travel is not bad . I think I'm going to be very happy.

I was just in my spreadsheet for gearing with different rear ends and transmissions. Here are some charts of the Ecoboost with 4.09 and 3.55 rear gears. I don't like to run the ecoboost below 2000 rpm. The 4.09 gear set makes sixth gear much more usable.

this would actually be better for the high revving v8 motors. ecobeasts just add boost.

Does it or does it just ruin first gear? I have a 3.55 and I already consider second gear at parking lot speeds. When I'm driving normally, there are 5 gears (4 shifts) between stopped and 50 mph. The gearing is not too tall, you're in the wrong gear. If you want to run 3000 revs at 80 mph, then keep it in a lower gear (5th).

On a racetrack, you'd only use second to fifth. Sixth is artificially tall for fuel economy. Let the engine tick along less than 2000 rpm all day long, just don't go past 1/2 throttle at those revs. You won't need to if it's just freeway.

I think the gears are a bigger gain on the Coyote than on the Eco.
