I noticed a lot of 13-14 GT500 owners wanted to switch those from 3.31 factory gears to 3.73... IMHO there is a lot of grass is greener mentality pushing people to switch.

With the right tire, it's a blast in the 650whp range (most stock engine/blower cars are around this point).

We just did one in a 6R80 car that had 3.15's and it was like night and day. :)

The Performance Pack 3.73 cars on a good tire with any power adder is a blast to drive.

3.73s would be a lot more fun in the higher gears on the street less downshifting to have fun. I'm going to put 3.73s in mine (I have 3.31s) and I plan on doing a supercharger in the next couple years.

^^^^^^
This....If I went to the track..A LOT...I would definitely drop down to 3:31's.
But as a street car with NT05R's it's a blast to drive...and when playing with the big boys on the street..they have to catch up.:D

Whipple Stage 2 w/ OR LT/3" exhaust and 325/30/19 R888 sure is fun with the 3.73's IMO!

Wow...thanks for all the replies and great information thus far.

So it also sounds like many of you are running a 305 tire on the back. Not to get off topic of this post but it is somewhat related...with the 373 rear and PP 19.5 rims on the back, can you install a 305/40/19 on them or do you need to go to a different rim?

I assume also using the 373 with torsen is better than a 355 or 331 with limited slip in regards to handling the HP the supercharger will put out?

In regards to wheel size...There are people on here running 305's on the stock PP rims. I chose to go with the PP replica's 19x10 and fit great. Torsion vs other someone else needs to chime in.

I originally had 3.55 gears installed a centri blower I wasn't happy with the gears so I swapped my pumpkin for the pp pumpkin with the 3.73 gears. I love the centri now.

That's because of the Tremec transmission which has different gear ratios compared to the MT 82.
Same reason the GT 350 needs a 4.10.
I had 4.10's in my11 GT 500 and loved it .

Im dropping a TR6060 in my car with the Centri and I am going to keep the 3.73s now. However the plan is to run the car at the strip as well as 1/2 mile events and If I hadnt exploded 4th in my MT82 I would prob drop to 3.31s.

Still have my 3:73's as well with my Whipple. My ratio has changed a little though to like a 3:62 do to my 315/35/20's. Running road track I do still have to get to 5th on the main straights and it seems plenty like the 3:15's more being boosted. I'm good.
I had been thinking of going up a tire/wheel size if/when I go FI just to offset my 3.55 gearing a little. I'm on 19" wheels now. It's probably not in my future to put lowering springs might as well fill the wheel wells with rubber. The side effect would be lowering the torque dished out by the rear tires along with adding a larger tire footprint might be advantageous to grip. Looking at your 3.73 to 3.62 shift doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy seeing the difference in print. Thanks for posting, I'm still considering it.

Well there goes that idea. :headbang:

I have 3.31s on drag radials. A very minimal amount of spin at the top of 1st gear on cooler days. Aside from that, none. I personally enjoy taller gears. I've trapped 132mph in the 1/4 mile in 4th gear with room to spare. Plus I do some long highway trips at times and it's nice to be a 670+ whp and get 27mpg

When I spoke to Lebanon Ford who is installing all those Roush S/C's, they told me the 3.55 gears was the best way to go. But then again, they didn't have the car I wanted with the PP and was trying to talk me into buying one without the PP...
