Exactly....lol. The GT350 was designed to beat the z28 in every way...If the R doesn't beat the z28 its an epic failure.
There are no rules to what engine any of them use, and considering the weight of these cars and the fact that in racing these cars will be spending more time accelerating than anything else it makes more sense to use an engine with tons of power down low. These Ford engines are nice on paper, but in real world practical use where there are no restrictor plates you are going to be at a disadvantage.Unless they employ force induction, GM has to use displacement to keep up with the little 5.2. It's sad how all these years GM has been having to fight 4.6's and 5.0's and 5.4's with all the displacement they use. That's not saying much for efficiency but as the guys said in the 70's there's no match for displacement.

Ford is very aware of what size engines GM likes to use and the fact that they are just now upping the displacement and only offering it in the special car is sad. Do you really expect your competitors to drop smaller engines in their cars to make you happy, or are you supposed to rise to their level? Look at what Ford did to compete with GMs trucks, the 5.0 is only there to make the guys who want a v8 happy, the eco boost in those trucks destroy the competition. You should be asking for more from Ford instead of expecting the competition to give less to their customers. I've never seen Vette guys crying about and making excuses for their engines compared to the Viper's 8.4 v10.
well said! I prefer the ford engine's as well for these very reasons.LOL! I don't even know where to start with this. I feel that both of you guys are looking at this from a sort of brand loyal perspective. Let's just say that Ford's motors make just as much power as GM's, they just climb after the midrange instead of falling off. Ford's and GM's motors are both good, they're just different.
GM uses displacement to make power. Ford uses much more complicated head and valve train designs to make power. Neither is "better" to me, that's just the way they went. Ford's direction interests me more is why I go with Fords. I also like power to build with RPM more than punching off the line and then running out of breath.
As far as Ford "just increasing displacement" for the Voodoo, the increase in displacement isn't to make more power in itself. They did it to clear the larger valve sizes they needed for high RPM breathing.
How would it be a loss in your book? It's significantly less expensive, has less tire, less brake, and even though Magneride is nice, its not a race derived suspension.the voodoo alone is a win in my book. the car may be an epic failure(if it loses on the road course to the z28), but the damn engine is an engineering feat in this day and age.

Now i have no doubt it'll beat the Z/28, but even if it doesn't its a win. Ford was able to do more with less despite it being against the the camaro's 5th gen platform.
because it is a TRACK ORIENTED car first and foremost. how are you going to heavily market the track aspect and have it fall short of its target on the track? LOL That is the epitome of failure. How would it be a loss in your book? gm is just an act.they send out RINGERS that get great numbers but when the idiots buy from the Gigantic Mistake, they soon see that was a mistake.:cheers:GM acts like there on top performance I'm surprised they didn't come out with flat plane crank first
