I'm sure it will beat the Z28. I was just saying that GM doesn't have a direct competitor that will pass emissions, and I don't think that they will build one either.

Unless they employ force induction, GM has to use displacement to keep up with the little 5.2. It's sad how all these years GM has been having to fight 4.6's and 5.0's and 5.4's with all the displacement they use. That's not saying much for efficiency but as the guys said in the 70's there's no match for displacement.
There are no rules to what engine any of them use, and considering the weight of these cars and the fact that in racing these cars will be spending more time accelerating than anything else it makes more sense to use an engine with tons of power down low. These Ford engines are nice on paper, but in real world practical use where there are no restrictor plates you are going to be at a disadvantage.
Ford is very aware of what size engines GM likes to use and the fact that they are just now upping the displacement and only offering it in the special car is sad. Do you really expect your competitors to drop smaller engines in their cars to make you happy, or are you supposed to rise to their level? Look at what Ford did to compete with GMs trucks, the 5.0 is only there to make the guys who want a v8 happy, the eco boost in those trucks destroy the competition. You should be asking for more from Ford instead of expecting the competition to give less to their customers. I've never seen Vette guys crying about and making excuses for their engines compared to the Viper's 8.4 v10.

Yeah shame on Ford for coming up with an aspirated engine that yields over 100hp/liter. What were they thinking. They should have one-upped the Viper and dropped some 10 liter truck motor instead, that would have schooled those Camaro boys.

the voodoo alone is a win in my book. the car may be an epic failure(if it loses on the road course to the z28), but the damn engine is an engineering feat in this day and age.

LOL! I don't even know where to start with this. I feel that both of you guys are looking at this from a sort of brand loyal perspective. Let's just say that Ford's motors make just as much power as GM's, they just climb after the midrange instead of falling off. Ford's and GM's motors are both good, they're just different.

GM uses displacement to make power. Ford uses much more complicated head and valve train designs to make power. Neither is "better" to me, that's just the way they went. Ford's direction interests me more is why I go with Fords. I also like power to build with RPM more than punching off the line and then running out of breath.

As far as Ford "just increasing displacement" for the Voodoo, the increase in displacement isn't to make more power in itself. They did it to clear the larger valve sizes they needed for high RPM breathing.

well said! I prefer the ford engine's as well for these very reasons.

How would it be a loss in your book? It's significantly less expensive, has less tire, less brake, and even though Magneride is nice, its not a race derived suspension.

Now i have no doubt it'll beat the Z/28, but even if it doesn't its a win. Ford was able to do more with less despite it being against the the camaro's 5th gen platform.

Agreed. Ford built a car that you don't have to justify spending that kind of money for. You can use it every day just like any other Mustang if you want. The Z28 is a $75,000 track Camaro that will beat you to death on a bumpy road and cost $10,000 for a brake service.

because it is a TRACK ORIENTED car first and foremost. how are you going to heavily market the track aspect and have it fall short of its target on the track? LOL That is the epitome of failure.

Hmmm... Was that LSD or PCP?

You have posted 6 times and come on posting this?... arguing race engines need "power down low"?... Voodoo has, and it does what a roadcourse driver's dreams desire; make gobs of power all the way to a high redline.

And this coming from a "Wareagle". Tell me something... Can Auburn ever make their mind up whether they wanna be a tiger or an eagle?
