I hear you on that one. If you can just snap one next time your under the hood. It would be very beneficial to the discussion! Lol.I'm so bad a taking pictures of stuff while I do it. I'm always thinking I should do build threads, but I always forget to take pictures.
Is your car Auto? I think it would be much less noticeable with an automatic because the torque converter is going to keep the pinion tight to the ring all the time .you probably would only notice it when you first put it into gear, with the manual every time you push in and then come off the clutch I get a clunk like there was a little slack between the gears. I used the black. The first time I drove this car I got locked out of third merging on the highway and damn near killed myself .since I put the inserts in it hardly ever happens. I have a trans mount and a blowfish bracket ready to go in too. I don't mind the nvh I actually like it. I was just worried the rear end was going to explode, but after reading about it I guess it's normal .This drivetrain "clunks" regardless of gears and I have not heard that a larger gear ration themselves should not play a part in how much it "clunks". I have had two of these cars and changed stock gears to 3.73s I personally have not noticed a difference between my old pumpkin/gears and new when it comes to noise. I cleaned up almost all that noise by switching out my transmission and differential fluids with Syncro and by installing a Short Throw w/poly bushings.
What bushings did you use? Those inserts are synonymous with more noise in the drive train. No matter if you use red, black, or solid.
My apologies! You have to be careful what you say about autos nowadays or you'll get buried in snowflakes. I'm pretty sure it's the actual gears, I can recreate the clunk by rotating the drive shaft by hand. It feels like slack in the gears. The rear-end I got was out of a gt350r and also has a torsen diff. A lot of owners of those on various forums report the same clunk. Maybe it's a product of the Torsen. No I have a manual. Its blasphemy to assume i have ever owned any of my sports cars without a manual lol. High end fluids, poly bushings, and the blowfish bracket will clean up that "clunk"...well based off my experience anyways it should.
Your not off on the reason for the clunk its also the two-piece driveshaft to an extent too. My pumpkin came of a PP 3.73 optioned Mustang GT.My apologies! I'm at work now I can snap a few pictures when I get home, basically I'm going to run 2 of these: https://www.spectreperformance.com/mobile/product.aspx?prod=9833Your not off on the reason for the clunk its also the two-piece driveshaft to an extent too. So what route did you go on the turbo intake?
Yes, there is much less space than you think. Can't really get that great of pictures, but here are a couple. It runs in from the grille makes a 90 into thecustom filter box (it fits barely under where the coolant tank goes, makes a 90 downwards then another 90 then a 45 under the AC compressor to a custom pipe I made over the engine mount to a 30 that attaches to the turbo. Charge pipe comes off the turbo at 45 into a custom pipe straight to the front past the power block into a 90 into a merge (where the drivers side will tie in) down past the wiper fluid bottle into the intercooler.Hmm. Interesting. Is the issue the lack of soace your finding when running the intake piping?
The supersix kit instructions want you to move the main wire harness to outside the fender liner in order to make space .I don't want to do that and I want a serviceable filter. Figuring out the routing has been the hardest part of this install so far. Needless to say I'm going to start an eBay Store with all the extra couplers I went through.Nice work man! That intake has some crazy routing. If you take the car over to a shop for the downpipe work you should get them to make you a 3 inch!
Good luck on the welding. That is not a skill i ever tried to pick up.The supersix kit instructions want you to move the main wire harness to outside the fender liner in order to make space .I don't want to do that and I want a serviceable filter. As for the exhaust we'll see. Like I said before I do stuff like this to learn. Guess it's time to learn how to weld stainless.
