3.55's with tires an inch shorter than stock will feel much the same as 3.73's with stock tires in terms of throttle response (and speeds in gears). A little more sparkle in street driving, earlier (and sometimes more) shifting on any given road course.

Well it's still not gonna be all that much faster than a 3.31 if you watched the video but you will have to shift more. It's all good and I understand why people like 3.73 gears. It just wasn't for me and my DD needs and I was answering the OP's question.

Peace

I would be willing to say that stock for stock the PP should outrun the non PP in autocross, if not then Ford really missed the mark in their efforts to make the PP more track capable.
Might depend on whether there's any need for 3rd gear and whether or not hurrying up the 2-3 and 3-2 shifts remains a MT82 problem.

The obvious fix there - upgrading the shifter - pushes you up out of the Stock Category classes at autocross and against cars with somewhat further modification and greater allowances, vs something like an MGW or Barton being pretty much an expected mod for MT drivers at drag racing where it's mostly 'just run what you brung and hope you brung enough'.

Ya I am leaning more towards 3.31s. Does anyone know what 4th gear top out at? I am assuming close to 140mph?

I'm getting 136 mph @ 7500 rpm with the MT82 and 275/40-19 tires. Best I can do without actual information.

This speed includes a 3% correction for tire tread compression in the contact patch (this is why the tire revs/mile at Tire Rack don't match the simplified calculations you can find all over the 'net).
