Some good reads here. Thanks for the inputs. Local dealership had one in 3.55 but wasn’t too sure if it was worth it since it doesn’t even have a 301A package. (That 4 inch screen won’t cut it) unless I’m really not missing much from the 8” screen?

301a all day. Better sound system, 8”screen with CarPlay and Alexa now, mycolor with illuminated door sills and additional drive modes including drag mode

I'd get 3.55, I have an 18 with MT-82 and 3.55, wish I had 3.73s instead now.
I haven't driven the new '18+ with the stick (nor have I looked up the gearing specs so please forgive my ignorance), but when I had my 2015 PP premium, the 3.73 gears were a nightmare IMO. Something along the lines of having to shift twice to hit 60 just wasn't that fun. It definitely flew off the line but all the time I spent shifting really didn't do me any favors compared to the 3.53 or 3.35's. Have they changed it up at all or is it still a double pull to hit 60 with the 3.73's in stick?

For 2018 models. 3.15s seem to be faster than 3.55s in the low end. Due to longer gearing the 3.15s are in the torque band longer. While the 3.55s are going through shifts the 3.15s are pulling. I know this bc I’ve tested this a few times running my buddies 3.15 vehicle. We both have the same base 2018 a10, just different gearing. On the low end from 20-40 rolls, he pulls away right away a car gap between us and doesn’t pull anymore. We tried from a 60 just for fun and it’s an even run until my car slowly starts to creep forward.
At 20 mph the advantage of the 3.55s is gone. The advantage of the 3.55s is at launch (this means 0 MPH). In other words, your tests aren't set up correctly to find the answer to the question.

I guess, but the fastest NA 18 is a 3.15.

It does not come with the PP1 differential as someone mentioned it does.
Thought I've seen on here somewhere that all the 3.55s have the more robust iron housing whether as a stand alone option or from the PP.

The new MT82 in the 18+ has longer gear ratios now with 4th gear being the 1:1 gear instead of 5th. That's why the base GT is now 3.55 and not 3.31. I could be mistaken but my second gear in my 18 takes me close to 90mph now and I have the 3.55's. 3.73's seem to be to be a sweet spot because you would be able to hit 60 in 2nd gear and it would pep up the bottom end torque that the coyote lacks just a bit. TBH though no matter which transmission or what gear ratio, above 3k rpms full throttle, these 18+ GT's take off like a rocket.

That is good information for the OP if his top priority is 1/4 mile times. Although it is a single data point. Could be the fastest NA has the best driver or has made other mods that are superior to those cars that have slower NA times. It would be better if you had a comparison of multiple unmodified cars driven on the same day by the same driver with both gear ratios. Or at least a large data set of 1/4 mile times for unmodified cars to apply averaging or other statistical methods to.

It doesn't refute the claims of other posters that the 3.55s are more fun on the street, though.

OP, we can sit here all day and tell you a thousand different things, the best thing to do is go drive a car with 3.55 rear and 3.15 and decide for yourself what you like best!! :)

The Torsen rear diff is distinctive to the PP optioned cars.

I don’t plan on racing but I wouldn’t want to feel ‘sluggish’ if we can even call it that with 3.15

test drive them! my personal preference in the PP. not only for the looks and better brakes but just the idea that i have a car than i can generally do anything with. drag race, a little track work, cone tracks, street fun. whatever.
