If you read the whole article it talks about the Gen 5 for the F150 being a 3.0 and not inverted like the Mustang. Just get the F150 kit.
Sooo Um Whipple goes and releases a Gen3 2.9 Whipple for the 2015-2017 Coyotes then this comes out.

A Gen5 3.0 whipple that looks an aweful lot like the Edlebrock 2650 blowers for the 2015 and 2017s also.

Yes I realize the Edlebrock uses a TVS but this is the INSTANT question that pops into my head.

Why go from a gen2 to a gen3 on a 2015-2017 if the GEN5s 3.0 whipple will fit? Does it fit?

I think Whipple has some explaining to do and I know one thing.

Id be super pissed if I just bought a Gen3 kit or upgraded to a Gen3 kit from a Gen2 2.9 blower and then Whipple just released a 3.0 Gen5 Blower........

Heres the Article for the 3.0 Whipple Gen5 for the 2018s

Again yes I realize the 2018s will have the 3rd gen DI coyotes but that doesn't address my question will it fit the Gen2 Coyotes.

If so ALL 2.9 Whipples just became obsolete

they stated on facebook it bolts up, but you'd need to do work to the intake...which i bet a blillion dollars people figure out as soon as it comes out...

and i think it's hilarious after all the shit talking about the edelbrock
Let's be very clear, and talk about the Edelbrock was about the power and cal, not the design. In fact, do a search we said it was a clever design. For your info, this was actually designed by Harrop of Australia for the Ford Miami motor in the Falcon.

For 18, the hood clearance was minimal. We had to redesign the kit to fit, we had the choice of small intercooler or go upside down. Roush chose tiny intercooler, we choose upside down, big intercooler.

While they're similar, they are different.

Not sure why we would have to explain anything, new application required a new kit. The 18 is for the 18. The 11-17 kit with the gen 3 is the most powerful system available today. We have newer product coming for it. It we always do, consistently refining. None of them are obsolete. As we said before we have no plans on offering this system for the 11-17. It requires multiple items, emissions, cal, etc.

I live in North Dakota and could care less if it passes emissions. I run my cars on E85 at home anyways.

The gen5 fits thats all i wanted to know. Thats the hard part a tuner with half a brain and a mechanic with half a brain would be able to make it work.

Even the intake and filter part of it isnt that big of a deal to come up with a solution.

The fact the bigger more efficient blower fits is a bigger obstacle to jump than the tune so thats already a non issue.

Until the 3.0 option is available for the Gen2 coyotes its a bit crazy you guys refuse to support it. New products coming or not.

Everyone ranted and raved the gen3 was the latest and greatest upgrade available from whipple only to be instantly outdone by the 3.0 gen5 LOL.

Hows that for product marketing? Heres a new gen3 yayyyy but ohh hey its already smaller and not as efficient than the offerings for the 2018..... :frusty:

You did say it was clever, as you were in all but one of the first 6 threads i clicked on with the keyword “edelbrock”, before i got tired of reading.

You also stated this, which is kinda contradicting the rest...

Identical size to our LTR but less heat soak, if you know what your doing when you build a system you don't sacrifice in this area which some do or have, us, Edelbrock and VMP sized correctly in this app. An upside down SC is our least favorite because they typically deal with heat soak the worse of all the designs available. Also long runners typically help low end torque but really hurt HP as you slow air speed down, increase pressure drop and increase IAT2's, with the Coyote being a high RPM engine, in some cases this could be a problem. But, some designs only lend them self one direction of fitment and I think this is a nice system that will work for some, certainly a very clever system and I like how they are being different then Roush and VMP.

Those numbers are engine rated. RW will be around 580-600 on manuals which is good for a stage 1 system. Engine ratings vs RW are not always a direct relationship unless you follow full SAE standards which almost no aftermarket company does. Example, intercooler water has to be in a closed system so temp rises like it does in the real world. Heat around the engine does not increaes on a engine dyno like it does under the hood, etc.

As for jackshafts being extra parts. You realize all SC's that are not direct drive style couplings need a drive extension or an extra long shaft, with extra bearings and coupling to operate, including upside down designs. Therefore, in this app, the shafts and bearing qty are equal. Instead of a plastic coupler or love joy, we have 2 precision cut helical gears. So there are no "extra" parts to fail. Again, Ford Racing, GM Racing and Mopar have all chosen the same design for there race cars and have had incredible success.

Edelbrock did great on the design, no question, but let's try and keep comparison's accurate so people don't get the wrong idea on improper information. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
That said, i have zero doubts your new system will be awesome. Just saw some irony, that’s it. I understand it will be way different.

We said it's our least favorite, didn't bash it. It's not irony, we had been working on it for before we said that. We only go upside down when we have to sacrifice on top mount or physically can't fit it.

We don't have long runners FYI.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about gen 4! It's my way of fighting the urge to upgrade to gen 3.

Keep us waiting, my wallet will appreciate it lol.

I'm guessing 4.0 liter upside down blower???
