Update... I beat my 29mpg with a 31.1 with the gauge. Math came in at 30.4. I wish I lived in a flatter area I always hit canyons mountains and 85mph speed limits and it drops pretty dramatically.

My trip to Portland this weekend for valentines day with my wife I got a surprise from my car! 29.1mpg from Seattle to Portland, Thinking it was a fluke! I took a picture on the way back and pretty much the same story. this time I had cruise set at 75mph and got 28.1mpg. the trip to Portland I has cruise set at 70mph. When I looked down when i was almost there I had to take a picture cuz I know hardly any of my friends would believe me If I just told them! Also had a really close call on fuel too... Anybody knows how far past 0 miles to empty they can go? I went maybe 5 miles past and it was almost completely empty 15.597gallons! Close call less than half a gallon in the tank!!!

I find that my mileage goes way down using cruise control, 1-2 mpg less. It's better to let it slowly decelerate on uphill grades and accelerate on downhills for the best results.

Tonight I did a 100 mile loop around NYC, all 5 boroughs and New Jersey*, and because it was so cold and windy there was basically no traffic. Got 25 mpg by the computer.

* - This was the first time I've driven the car on the mainland since I got it. Just Long Island, Fire Island (Robert Moses Causeway is the best speed stretch in the NY area, especially in winter), and Manhattan.

I've gotten 27.4 mpg from my 2015 GT PP from my garage to destination about 50-miles away one time when trying. These cars definitely have the ability to return good fuel mileage. I wonder if we could see another 5-10% bump with Direct Injection.

Personally, great fuel economy takes too much effort and restraint to compete with the gravity receptors in my right foot.

Ya when i calculated it by hand it went down because it wasn't strictly Highway driving. when i stopped for gas I drove around Portland site seeing most the day and it dropped to 25.6 when i filled up before i left. on the way back was 27.7 same story when i got back to Seattle and stopped for dinner and groceries. So 100% highway those are pretty close. It probably was those 60mph zones that I hit that made it jump up so high. but for the most part the speed limit 70 in I-5 I'm actually going to call and get my actual numbers from my Fleet gas card. I put in my ODO in every time i fill up and they have all that info. I never really payed attention to my MPG until this trip. I'll post my actual from my Fleet card when i talk to them. (they track it pretty good, i switched to using my truck during the winter I got a call from them haha. "your fuel usage has doubled recently")

This just proves my reasoning for getting the Mustang GT Premium currently sitting in my garage. My other vehicle is a 98 F-250 Light Duty, and I get between 12-15mpg. Even constantly driving it in sport+ mode and enjoying country roads, I'm still getting 2mpg better in my more economical Mustang XD
