2022 GT500 order thread

There is something to what you're saying here. The 60s cars do look different. So does the media tour car from Nov. Either the lighting and filter is different or they tweeked the color. Also, the 60s cars in BB we're seeing are most likely repainted, so not even sure what it looked like in 1967 or so. I'm seeing 3 different shades here.

They are two are different paint codes with the same name. The new “Brittany Blue” is not the 60s version. It was used on Lincoln before the GT500. They just call it Chroma Crystal Blue instead of Brittany.

Kind of cheapens the whole HE edition a bit more for me. I still like the color but, the marketing team and bean counters got to it.

My journey

1st trip to my local dealer to place order Feb 11th. At that time it all seemed to be mysterious… Is this real or….

53 years old and buying this car as a bucket list item. Always been a practical car buyer. The timing and the product is right so I dove in.

from Feb 11 to yesterday no news, no order or other conformation numbers. Again I think is this real.

Over this same period of time I scour the inter webs for info, tips and sources of public info. Find this forum site and joined.

Here is the wind up, yesterday Apr 22nd, dealer calls with good New’s (mostly) he now sees order number in system and code that said sent to production or something to that effect. Play phone tag for hours till I got into my car and went to dealer in person. There it is. The GM shows me the actual order on his computer. We change the color from black to code Orange with black vinyl over the top. I should get a VIN Monday says the GM.
My journey seems to be on track? Still have some skepticism but getting some form of update was a relief though.

Morale of this story = Be patient.

It showed up this morning. I ran out to pick up a 12 pack of beer and thought what the heck. Let me stop by the dealership and see if they had any shipping updates. At this point all the sales guys know me cause I’ve been stalking them since February. I knew when I got of the truck something was up because they all had shit eating grins. Low and behold my baby is finally here. When I saw it and then the GM started it I actually got a little emotional. Then I realized shit I didn’t bring my phone.. so I told the GM I will be right back. Went home picked up my phone and Champ then went back to the dealership where I took this video. This 12 pack is going to go down super easy. The video isn’t the greatest because I was so geeked up.

Well it’s a small dealership and I do alot of business with them and send them business. They said originally $7.500, but the sales manager said we could work on that. The MSRP increased when I made a change on the final order

The color on the 60s bb cars just seems more blue than the more silver on the 2022. Maybe it’s the angles of the body.

I actually love the OG color but the new bastardized version is my main reason I’ve been disappointed.
Much like making the new Grabber Blue metallic but I don’t make those calls.

That's where I'm getting my car. They had a red CFTP car with black stripes for 25k over in January that was just being sold. Nice to hear you don't have to pay that. Nice country and wineries for driving a GT500 up near Poughkeepsie. I plan to head to that way in the fall for some nice drives.

That’s good to hear, we will have to hook up and have a parade. My cousin also has a GT500 that he got last fall.

It cheapens it for you? Don't let it. I believe history will show they got it wrong in 66/67 and this new version is the correct color for a Brittany Blue GT500.

Case in point... if you were to teleport an S550 GT500 painted in M7401 BB to 1964, just before the release of the first mustang, and ask people which car they like better, I'm guessing they unanimously choose the M7401 car over the M1624 car.

People, myself included, often reflect on history with rose colored glasses. This new color/car is the right one. And in 55 years, the next generation will surely be having this same silly conversation.
