Well...I got the call yesterday morning around 10AM that my Shelby arrived at the dealer. Setup an appointment to go pick it up around 4. I was pumped and ready!

When they brought it out, it was not detailed, I immediately started doing my QC inspection and noticed the front driver wheel was curbed. I also noted the front bumper where your license plate is supposed to go was scratched up.

Moved into the interior, the door panel, sills and plastic on the seats were scratched up too. At this point, I was already thinking twice about this car.

We took it for a spin to the gas station, insane power, lots of compliments even in the 10 minutes we were in it, but it was a little hard to drive and impractical. My wife and I were having some trouble getting in and out. As I was helping her out of the back seat, I noticed there was a hole in the leather of the back of the Recaro seat!?! At this point, I was like man what the hell is going on!!

We went back to the dealer, I pointed out all the things I found, they assured me they would be "fixed". I know what that means though....probably have to bring it back to the dealer, have some tech joyride the car, and probably mess up something else in the process. The dealer didn't offer anything but just to "fix" things. No discount, no mention of a full guaranteed replacement of the parts.

In the end, for me to get this car, it had to be perfect and special, and the delivery process really was terrible. It seemed like I was taking delivery of a EcoBoost, not a Shelby. Ford QC is concerning to say the least.

Needless to say I walked away from the deal. Obviously, they were happy I did. I had them at $7,500 over sticker in the Bay Area, where they can easily sell it for $25K+. I ended up getting my $500 deposit back, I left very disappointed but maybe it wasn't for me in the end. I have bought over 30 cars in my 35 yrs of life and this was really not it. I at least got to rip it a few times, and boy was it fun.

If anyone can overlook these things I found, the car is at Fremont Ford. :like:

I hope everyone has a better experience than I did and enjoys their GT500 to the fullest. Good Luck!

What a shame. Sorry it went that way for you. No excuse for that.

Wow. That’s a terrible experience & a bit scary as I wait for my car. Out of curiosity, do you know what the car’s chassis number is and when it’s blend/build date was?

Only in small town middle America.. Went to pick up the GT500 this afternoon and the town is having a big summer festival. The front exit from the dealer was blocked with a carnival ride and the side exit was blocked by a bean bag toss tournament. The only way out was through a second door in the wash bay, down a fairly steep drive and through the back alley. Sales rep offered to stop the bean bag toss (The owner of the dealer was out in the street MC'ing the pedal tractor races!). Im just happy it's here and not in a rail yard somewhere so my discretion kicked in and decided to just leave the car tucked in the wash bay, Salesman will meet me there tomorrow for pickup.. The car is gorgeous, if you're into green at all eruption green is worth a look. FYI, Chassis # 439 on a blend date of 17 May

2 months from blend date to delivery date. I'm curious if that's about average. My car is already a month from blend and it still hasn't been sent to Penske for the stripes. Guess it'll be another month. Patience is a virtue. Congrats on your car. It's cool looking with the green and white. Classic.

Back in 2020 the wait for the GT350R HE cars was long. Mine took about 2-2 1/2 months just for shipping. It was a long excruciating wait. After about 8 more Shelby’s since then I have become numb to the wait.

My car was sent to the plant on 3/24, was produced on 4/19 after a plant shutdown. Went to Penske sometime a after and returned on May 2, wasn’t shipped until May 20 after another plant shutdown, and as delivered on 6/20.

I was fine with the wait up until it got stuck 16 miles from my house at the train depot. That was where I was getting stressed.

I was excited in 4/19 thinking I might have my car soon, but Ford told me to not get too excited because it would still be awhile.

I was one of the first cars made so things have sped up by now. They're making a lot more per day and it seems the waits have reduced some.

But just like you said, best thing to do is relax as you can’t do anything about it anyway.

Your car was faster than typical, wouldn’t you agree? I have similar time frame (famn near identical as you know) both non CFTP, but mine is still stuck at rail yard in Michigan. Scheduled to arrive this week but doubtful due to VVR report showing no movement as of end of last week.

Thanks... Mine spent most of the time after build waiting to get out of Flat rock. Not sure of exact date but it was loaded on train at flat rock around 25 June, over a month from build date.. Spent some time at rail yard in Chicago then arrived in Omaha rail yard around 7 July, sat there about a week and and finally arrived at Ashland Ne dealer on 15 July. Mine is vinyl stripes so didn't have the trip to Penske. Hopefully your delivery goes as smoothly as mine did... Have owned a bunch of cars In my day but in the 25 mile drive to get this one home today it is definitely worth the wait..

That's only 5 weeks or so. You're doing great. 3 more weeks and you'll be sitting pretty.

Probably parked next to mine in New Boston...I was 6/13. I'm still scheduled 7/13-23 ETA which I'm just waiting for it to be delayed further
