So I checked with Ford performance today via the chat.

normally when I request the status they tell me it’s unscheduled or material hold.

today when I spoke with them, the gentleman said that it was in process and I asked what that meant or was there any information that he could share and he said he could not.

what does this mean?

It's in the process of being processed for processing so it can be processed. LOL.

This might be a regional thing in relation to Thursdays but in the west, orders are "previewed" on Tuesday and Wednesdays, then will get scheduled on Thursdays for various model lines (including mustang).

Previewing means they are looking at your particular build to see if it is a buildable configuration and doesn't have any commodity constraints.

If your config is buildable, then next step is getting a VIN and getting scheduled to week.

Sounds like your order might be moving to the next step if all is in stock.

Does adding or removing packages to an order causes a delay on your custom order? Does it move you to the back of queue entirely? (Assuming there’s not a material hold and VIN has not been issued)
dont do this, I did and my vehicle was fucked up.

I did, I was not delayed, but the change was put in and not processed on Ford's side. So I waited 4 months to get the wrong vehicle, there was somehow a mismatch with dealer info and ford info. now I'm waiting 2+ months on a new order with no progress. Ford, the dealer, etc couldnt care less about it. I have no recommendation, just this is what happened to me. Will never be own a ford again, and have put in a C8 order, we'll see who delivers. Im expecting my ford order to get cancelled.

That's an odd case, I've made changes on my 2016 350, 2017 350r, 2020 superduty and never had an issue. The order the plant is sent by the rep is what should be built, up until its sent it doesn't matter what you select.

well one of several dealers who get talked about on here took the car and added $15k+ ADM. The difference between the order change and VIN was several months. Right now I am out of a car, and lost money as I scheduled some things around the time of delivery. Dealer honored deal, ford support so far has been useless. Below is a snippet from several emails, dealer also claims this is a thing that happens. So fed up and done with ford, went from having a low chassis number vehicle to no vehicle. I'm a few more days away from cancelling and moving on to something else.
