Are we getting close to the close of '22 order banks?
Is there still time to order a '22?
I know Corvette and Jeep have already closed the window on '22 orders.

I was talking to my guy yesterday, and he said that Ford closed all order banks for 2022 models. They are going to balance out what they can build in the next few months with available parts, then try to start 2023 fresh.
Said the 2023 order banks should open around mid-June, production start around August.
I do not have any of this in writing. But he has been pretty accurate in the pastā€¦

'23 MY S550 GT500 production starting 8/22? That is very shocking news if true. All the noise I've heard is '22 MY is it. Interesting to say the least...

That was for F150 but the dealer memo didnā€™t mention Mustang production. But similar happened to Bronco & Mach-E so would not be surprised if Mustang ICE happens eventually also. When is any bodies guess.

INFORMATION
2022 Model Year F-150 - Important Retail Order Bank Update

ACTION REQUESTED
Inform your teams that the final day to submit new customer retail orders for 2022 Model Year F-150 is May 13, 2022. This applies to the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Tremor trims on hybrid and gas engines only.

SUMMARY
F-150 continues to experience high customer demand, and the daily rate of retail orders has significantly increased over the past several months. We are making the decision to pause and no longer accept new 2022 Model Year F-150 retail orders for the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Tremor trims (hybrid and gas engines) after May 13, 2022 to focus on existing orders.

After May 13, 2022 and for the remainder of the 2022 model year, dealers will continue to be able to submit orders for F-150 dealer stock inventory and if selected for scheduling within existing commodity constraints, customers will be able to purchase these vehicles from dealers upon arrival.

We will start retail ordering for the 2023 Model Year F-150 in July.

KEY DATES

  • May 13, 2022: Dealers have until 10pm EDTto submit new 2022 F-150 retail orders for the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Tremor trims on hybrid and gas engines.
    • WBDO/CONCEPs will no longer accept new retail orders after this date and time
  • May 19, 2022: Dealers must complete the Retail Order Verification Process by 10pm EDT for new retail orders to be considered for 2022 Model Year F-150 scheduling
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • We will continue to prioritize existing verified retail orders for 2022 Model Year F-150 trucks submitted prior to or on May 13, 2022, pending specific supply/commodity availability
    • WBDO will allow dealers to modify specs on existing retail orders after May 13, 2022
      • Body and PEP codes cannot be changed
  • 2022 Model Year F-150 dealer stock inventory ordering will remain open after May 13, 2022
  • New customer retail orders will resume with the opening of the 2023 Model Year F-150 order bank in July
  • More information about 2023 Model Year F-150 will be shared at a later date

Does this actually include the GT500 though? I spoke to the guy that does the ordering at my local dealer dealer the other day he said that most of the order banks are closed for 2022. I would be somewhat surprised if they continue to GT500ā€™s for 2023 with them supposedly starting 2024 mustang production very early in 2023. Also wonder how they would handle the heritage cars if they continue to GT500. Will they do two years of the heritage since they closed out so early?

Closing order banks on F150: check.

I had to think about why take orders in July for MY23, but then I realized Ford might be spending the rest of 2022 not only finishing what they can, but warehousing parts, more than ever before, to prevent work stoppages when there are supply chain delays related to MY23.

F150 sales are huge. I wonder how many those orders will be cancelled in 2022.

And I continue to be surprised Mustang order banks have yet to be closed.

Didnā€™t mean to imply GT500 production would be continued into 2023. Donā€™t know why it wouldnā€™t if they halt making 2022ā€™s this summer. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Should have the hard parts available.
The 2024 Mustang is expected to be announced in April 2023. Donā€™t expect production to start until many months later.

I would surmise they have waaay more 2022 Mustang orders in the system than they can possibly build in the next few months. Just like the F-150 situation. So keeping the order banks open is fruitless.

Yes, please.
Sorry I'm so late to the party here, but I was in Jeep mode the last 6 months.
;)
My wife really liked the Brittney blue.
Maybe at least keep that?

That's basically what expected.

Similar to how it's gone with Jeep.

Even Ford's own website said 'one last trip around the block' or something to that effect that has since been removed lol

If you look at vin numbers for the orders on the spreadsheet they haven't covered even 2k units. I don't know what the lines are capable of building at full production but I would guess close to that number in a couple of days. Ford's most profitable plant (KTP) can hardly run trucks for a day at a time at this point and has a 230k truck order bank. They are still staying the course for 2023 model changeover (similar update to interior and exterior as the s550-s650 is) so I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with the mustang which I guarantee doesn't have nearly that many units in the bank.

My order went from stock to retail.
Any advice for how to explain to my dealer to do this? Don't want to be that guy, but my dealer is in a small town and almost never orders these things, they say they've never had to "change" this and unsure how.

I should be in touch with my dealer today or tomorrow, I will ask.
