So the day I brought my new 22 GT home i saw a video on modding the air cleaner lid.I removed the carbon filter and plastic also took my dremel tool and cut away the honeycomb inside the tube.Anyone have any tune issues.I read the car was tuned to have that honeycomb in the tube in place.3000 miles for me an ok.

I left my honeycomb in just to play it safe. The difference removing it would make vs keeping it in is negligible at best. I also kept it in to keep the ability to throw the filter back in there should I have warranty work done! But I bet there wouldn't be an issue.

Same here. In fact, all I really did was pull the carbon filter. Next time I'm in the airbox I may remove the holder for it.

Seat-of-the-pants I can't tell a difference but I know the engine is breathing better.

From what ive read did this the the 10hp drop cause between the 2021 and 2022 to meet updated emissions.

Leave the honeycomb in place and just tear off the plastic cage and carbon trap filter. Thats all you need to do, no dremel needed. It will just snap off cleanly. The honeycomb is helpful to smooth out the turbulent air going across the MAF and taking that out is not going to help anything power wise. You will get a cleaner MAF signal with it in place and its not a restriction.

Yes you are correct that is the source of the 10hp drop. In fact, when people remove the carbon filter and add a K&N drop in or similar, they've seen 18+ hp gains back. In all honesty no one will feel the power difference but I actually got better gas milage. Also these coyote engines are so strong anyways, they dyno closer to the 500 HP mark at the crank.

I would just buy a lid from an 18-21 car.

Ford put that honeycomb in there permanately so when the carbon filter goes bad and falls apart in wont travel through the throttle causing it to stick and cause a crash.Avoiding lawsuits that way.

This is what I was thinking about.
Now, what are the chances that Ecoboost cars have the same lid as the GT's? Does anyone know?
