Finally got the hood.

it’s gonna be a damn shame to paint over this beauty.

Dig it - could probably get away leaving it exposed on an iconic car.....send it to me and I'll let you know.

Whilst we are back on the hood ...

Ignoring my tongue in cheek comments above about leaving it unpainted (which I don't think would suit a light coloured striped car) - I would be very tempted to try a little experiment that could be very unique and have best of both worlds :sunglasses:

Assuming you can find a very good paint shop that's prepared to work with you, have them add a blue tint to some lacquer and apply enough of it to get a shade similar to the stripes. Once done, mask stripes off on the hood and then have the remainder painted to match the car, followed by clear over everything.

If it works out as my minds eye sees it, from a distance it would look OE and up close you would see the carbon :sunglasses:

After 6 months racing with my dad almost every week, he finally took the trophy today. He smoked me all day. He has been messing with the suspension on the gt500 and with all the new power he added he finally broke free and kicked my ass. Tons of fun out today. We are strapping up and heading

I got a personal best of 2:23.38

he got a personal best of 2:20.xx

got to check out a GT4 by griffin Motorsports. Awesome dudes. Chatted with them for a bit. He let me jump in and become intoxicated with that sweet machine.

I wish I was as knowledgeable as you guys on these specs. Some of you will know what to make of it. I understand some of it, but not all of it. If you got any good info please share.

ive been trying to think of a way to incorporate it subtly. That’s a cool way to go about it.

I think I found a good guy for paint. I’m gonna reach out this week and see what’s up

unfortunately CJ pony parts FKd up my order from 5 months ago on the rear deck lid and diffuser. And I called to check on it and they said they canceled the order 5 months ago. So now I’m dead in the water on my paint work until I come up with at least the decklid.

Ok update update.

the car was dropped off Monday for the carbon parts to be fitted and painted!

Preliminary mock up is great. The fitment of hood an decklid are spot on.

we have decided to nix the fenders. Because of the value of this car, and the minimal weight savings, we decided to leave them off and keep the stock fenders. I am chasing weight, but if I wanted I would like to bring this car back to 100% stock configuration. And the fender removal would leave some marks in the underbody to take off, so I said nah. Not worth it. I’ll find a buyer for the fenders if I want later. But everything else is going on.

here is some teasers. This damn hood is badass!!

I’ll be meeting with painter Thursday or Friday to pick up the stock panels and go over some options for the hood. I want to incorporate some carbon still in the hood to show it off, I was thinking of leaving the hood vents exposed and just doing a clear coat over so everything else matched but the vents. The painter has some other ideas also, so I’ll let you know what we decide. Stay tuned

I’ve decided to get the race engine dropped in shortly after as well. Working on setting up a time to have the engine dropped in, headers and off road X to go in, and then a dyno and tune with either race fuel or e85

if I was painting the entire car I would definitely do that idea. But to do it to the hood only it wouldn’t match the look of the rest of the car.

Leave the vents exposed! Look at @Jmeo car for the exposed vents, it's perfect

Did you decide on wheels yet? Why don’t you buy a set of cf rears and run square setup with wheel spacers up front.

So the fit up of the speedkore parts are no good. They have no ability to connect to factory hardware and we would be literally glueing the bumpers on as well as the fenders.

I had already called speedkore during the mock up issues and they said two things, you transfer your oem mounting hardware to the carbon bumpers, and they said most people who buy these parts use them on wrecked cars and dont really care about the mock up. Lol. I had explained the build to them before buying. Plus the unevenness of the curves of bumpers and fenders will leave gaps on the body pretty bad. So these aren’t really going to work out. We would have literally have to glue the fog lights permantely onto the bumper, and the only way to take any of the other components off would mean destroying the bumper. I can’t just lightly put this bumper on, it has to handle high speeds consistently.

big Bummer. As for Anderson, kudos to them, the only components on the car are the 2 anderson pieces. The fit and finish was excellent with very clean and well fitting lines.

installing these speedkore components would have made it where my heritage edition would not have been the same ever again, it would have required extra bracing etc to make it work and as much as I want to do it, I’d rather install these on a salvage race car or just sell them, maybe speedkore can have them back if they feel up to it
