I have a 2020 GT PP1 10r80 and wanting to boost. I’m looking for around 750-800 whp just to play around with. Would you recommend ESS or Whipple and why? Thanks for your input.

With an auto, I'd go with ESS. Acts more like a turbo, giving a lot of boost up top which is perfect for the auto.

Pet peeve of mine...

Centrifugal does not act like a turbo at all.

Yes, it's not a turbo, and it is belt driven unlike a turbo, but I said it acts like one, as in its not a positive displacement supercharger, meaning it does not displace a fixed volume of air per rotation, and therefore produces peak torque at higher RPMs.

It does not act like one. Go look at a boost curve and power curve for a turbo car vs a centrifugal car.

I don't think he knows much about boosted setups or he wouldn't have posted that. Gotta learn somehow I suppose.

Anyhow, where is the sales team? They must be going straight to the DM's now!

I think we are getting away from the point here, sir. So I'll put it this way for the OP, a twin-screw (Whipple) delivers a more immediate and consistent boost across the RPM range, while a centrifugal supercharger (ESS or Procharger) typically reaches peak boost at higher engine speeds (RPM). Since the OP has an auto, with 10 speeds, the RPM's will remain high between shifts and is therefore a good match for the ESS or Procharger.

I believe the base ess kit is still a bit cheaper so if budget is a concern that's something to think about. I always tell people to budget for double then what they think when going boost unless they plan on doing all of the install themselves, plus there is usually unexpected expenses as well. At 750 to 800 rwhp you probably should factor in the cost of fuel system components for e85 as well.
