For those who want the best sound an Ecoboost can make, with Active Valve Exhaust being offered on the 2019 model, anyone wanna weigh in on whether it'd be a reason to skip getting the 18 EB and wait for the 19 EB instead?

Sound of exhaust is subjective.

IMO there are only 6 exhaust sounds:

1) Indy Car = high end screamer with lots of raspiness and backfire popping
2) Muscle Car = deep and throaty, lopy and burbles when idling, growls at WOT
3) NASCAR = cross between Indy and Muscle
4) Fart can = just sounds like ass echoing on a toilet after bad burrito blowout
5) Mosquito = you can hear it coming, but can’t find it because it blends into traffic and it “buzzes”, similar to low end Indy but more like a gas weed-whacker
6) Holy F’n Shit = open headers

I would not wait on an 18, 19 or 20 etc. for the exhaust... you can always buy it separately if you have a 15-17... that is... if it sound good, but I doubt it...

i ve had a 2016 before so i can compare.
On quiet mode the 2018 is almost the same as 2016
On normal it appears to me very noisy, really, event at 2000-4000 rpm.
In sport it's two times more noisy
In track, no real difference than sport. except the noisier sound arrives at lower rpm.

to sum up, even normal is the sound i wish to have on the 2016 that always disappointed me for this
2018 makes me think of an Harley Davidson sound

Considering I have a 2017 Harley Breakout with V&H pipes, I can assure you based on YouTube videos alone, the Mustang GT active exhaust sounds nothing like a Harley.

There is a lot more 'race car' type of sound rather than hi-performance tractor going on. My Tundra, with a flowmaster super10 can back...that was quite a bit more redneck sounding but was closer to Harley...

It's more crotch rocket-esk...

I'd put it at NASCAR. Not muscle deep and throaty...not Indy rasp...both...

Except the Ecoboost, that's more a 3.5

I saw that too, I wish ford had the rC for 2019. I really don’t think I’ll go aftermarket for my 2018 EB, when it gets here. I decided to order a 2018 for the color, but wanted the active exhaust of the 2019.

I wonder if ford would make a retrofit for 2018s???

2015 with magnaflow comp and never looked back! I get so many complements, once you break/burn it in its perfect fo r a manual with 3:73!
