Beg to differ on that, go back to the old thread and look at some of the pics posted. I can see the factory tips on most of them. Now yours I can't, that is why I was wondering if they were slipped on. Maybe that rolled tip on your does a better job of covering the edge of the factory tips. Ebay ya say....what length did you order?
Any 12 long tip with a 4 inch OD will work. The ID doesn't matter as it will be cut off. Cut to 5 or 6 inches, and the stock tip will slide into the rolled edge and it will simply look like the inside of the new tip.

well... Look at the GT350. Its just a pipe free floating inside tips that are mounted to the bumper cover itself. Seems like a lot of auto manufactures are going that route now.
Yes and lots of BMW's and Mercedes are like this. The Explorer Sport is also like this. Not saying I like it but the manufacturers are starting to do it too.

Because he cut them off; that's why :) (he said so on his post). I wouldn't do that, so the only solution would be slip-on rolled tips with the same shape as stock, so you wouldn't see the end of the stock 'tips'. Plus they'd only stick out like a millimeter or two at most. Anything else would look like crap IMO, so not for me.

I also like a lot the shape of the stock tips, slanted two ways (down, and to the sides), which would make it almost impossible to make rolled slip-on tips, so looks like I'll have to live with my crappy 'tips'. Ha ha. Oh well.

Elp- I did not say I cut the factory tips, I said I cut the new rolled tips so they are the same length as the factory tips so they can slide on and cover the factory tips perfectly. The reason why you buy 12 inch tips and cut them is so that you get a uniform radius all the way throughout. My factory tips are inside that rolled edge, you just can't see it. Plus the inside of the tips gets carbon and gets black so no way you can see it

Yeah, I'm just gonna live with mine until something better comes along. Besides, it the guy behind us that has to see them not us ....lol

Ah, thanks, I thought you had said you only cut the ebay tips, but wasn't sure and to lazy to re-read your earlier post...lol. The only prob I'll have with the carboning up part is since I alway stay in sport mod only my inboard tip carbons up. Still, yours looks pretty good so when I just can't stand it any longer I'll give it a shot.

Both ports open at different rates. There is a video on YouTube where a guy puts a camera in the exhaust tip and you can see that regardless of which mode the exhaust is in both sides open and close just at different rates for the different modes

Oh I get that. It's the "active" part of active exhaust. But my inboard tips are considerably darker than the almost clean outboards. I only have a valve on the inboard tips so I'm assuming there is something internal that routes exhaust out the outboard tip or just when the valve is closed it goes to the outboard which involves more muffling for quiet mod.

Thank you for the clarification. Just saw your tips, and they're 'squared' (cut at 90-deg angle), so a deal-breaker for me, since I don't like them like that. Plus they stick out. But I'm sure they're an option for others too.

If you use the AE in sport mode, about 90% of the exhaust will exit thru the inner pipes indeed.
