No, that isn't unusual. Everybody should buy and pay for what makes sense to them. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this thread to understand what the frustration is all about. Price of base car, packages, or what have you. Not sure if that equates to performance.

On the professional front doesn't the Mustang / GT4 have additional weight and a different restrictor plate compared to the Camaro.
I don't speak for everyone, but for me the frustration is that the PP is $1000 more with no obvious differences. Regardless of how much better base performance is, the PP appears to be pretty much the same. Different springs/dampers/sway bars/brakes/cooling and some chassis stiffening. None of that stuff costs significantly more than base. For Ford buying this stuff by the gross it's probably less than $5 different per part.

I personally was hoping for a 1LE comparable package. Yea the 1LE is expensive but it comes with magnaride/4xBrembo/Recarros/and a bunch of other nice stuff. Add magnaride+mandatory 301A or premium + recarro and you are well over the price of a 1LE package.

Maybe PP2 will bundle all that stuff together at a lower than ala carte price, but at this point I will say that is just wishful thinking.

That's what Road & Track reported as well. But they used the $4000 price, which doesn't jive with the configuration tool.

"We're most interested in the updated, $4000 Performance Package for the GT. In addition to sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, the GT Performance Package gets optional, $1700 MagneRide dampers similar to those used on the Shelby GT350. The A10 was awesome in the ZL1 at the Ring, yes. AND, it was if full auto mode, so the software knows what to do. I would prefer to tap my own, but it is a solid box. I hope reliability is there!
The A10 in the ZL1 has been completely overhauled with beefy internals. Mustang gets the watered down version.

With 460hp and the big price hike they should have just used the tremec that camaro uses, just as they did with the a10! Instead of whatever they did to upgrade the mt-82

One of the big reasons why the price increase in the PP is due to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. FAR better than the cheap ass Pirelli's they've been using. I looked at a used 2016 GT/PP today with only 18K miles and the front Pirelli's were BALD. And no, the PP does not have rear brembos. Maybe PP2 will since the SS 1LE does.

My 2 cents... and I will come right out and say that it is pure speculation on my part: The PP likely remains pretty much unchanged. The PP2 will (hopefully) tighten the gap with the 1LE, but not match it, and certainly not overtake the GT350.
I believe this statement will be proven accurate.

I agree that those Michelin tires are a thousand times better than them dodgy Pirelli P-Zero Grip tires they used to have. But the difference in purchase cost is probably less than $25 per tire. So in no way that justifies a $1,000 price increase. And neither does that hideous new spoiler btw.

Would be nice if the PP2 couples the PP with mag ride, active exhaust and the wider wheels shown elsewhere for say, 6k. Oh, and make it selectable with a base model GT too...
