2018 Mustang refresh?

Whatever the case they would really be doing the world a favor if they dropped that corporate grille it's got now. You build an engine exclusively for the Mustang--the car that is the true face of your company's heritage--and fudge it up with a Fusion look.

I'm sure it made all kinds of sense to the corporate beancounters and marketing suits but to me it's all kinds of wrong. The Mustang has always been something else entirely from the rest of Ford's lineup and they need to go back to that.

I can't remember where I read it but a while back I remember hearing the 2017 model year will be shorter, 9 months long I believe. So production would end in March and 2018s should be on dealer lots by May.

I also heard from a source that's been hit-or-miss in the past that the 2018 GT will basically be getting Shelby bumpers front and rear (like others suggested) and that the 2018 GT350 will be getting a new design (the camo "GT500" we've been seeing).

As for the GTs benefitting from hand-me-down Shelby styling, that's also a familiar phenomenon. Honestly, I'd be very, very ok with that...

Yeah, Ford seems to have gotten really good at keeping new cars under wraps. Look at the recent Ford GT that no one really saw coming until their big reveal.

The GT350 front is a good look...hopefully we get the lowered hood and their hood design. Definitely hoping for a much better LED set up also to bring it more in line with the likes of Audi's LED technology. Add in that 10 speed, updated gauges, possible remove of the hand brake to an e-brake and other little things..shaping up to be a nice refresh.

If you mean LED Matrix when referencing Audi, I do think LED Matrix would be way too expensive for a Mustang.

Just regular LEDs you find on any cars these days, but would be welcome. My experience with LED though is that they are rather weak compared to HID, the added benefit is that you often have automatic high beam which works well with LED but since they are weaker those high beams are needed in most situations.

Wonder if they have LED what they'll do with the price, price of LED is often bloated because many cars still have halogen and HID as options, so LED is often an extra step up over HID while HID is already a step up over halogen.

When was that ever a possibility? Removing it would mean a complete redesign of the center tunnel area which sounds a little extensive for a simple refresh. I've been hearing even the digital gauges might not make it in now. I drove a 6th gen Camaro for a week and that electronic parking brake was so annoying with a manual. Hitting a button and waiting for it to engage is much longer and more annoying than simply yanking a lever.

Uh oh; someone doesn't do handbrake turns. ;) Plus an all off or all on hand brake will mean most people most of the time will end up in a spinning car if they ever have to use it as an emergency brake as opposed to a parking brake. I HATE the e-brake in my ATS.

So my other car is an 2014 Audi, and I looked at buying a new one with the new lighting. Quite frankly, with exception to the S8 and R8, I think they look terrible. Perhaps their function is superior, but, IMO, stylistically they are a huge step in the wrong direction. I much prefer the lights on my 2014 Audi, and I find the lights on my 2016 mustang preferable to those. It is just my opinion, but like you said, they are considerably more expensive. I guess ford could always offer them as an option, perhaps as part of the safety package. Either way, I wouldn'the pay extra for them unless they had superior styling to the HID, and in the case of the basis (Audi), that is not the case.

In essence, I think Ford would be wasting their time and money pursuing this on buyers like me.
