Being contrary now. Wondering if the supposed '18 MY refresh is just something that M6G has invented for itself out of whole cloth just because we want it to be true.

It would only be the 4th MY of the new body style, and Camaro sales aren't hurting the Mustang at all (lol). I WANT to see an update, but I'm wondering how likely it really is for the '18 MY...

Ain't that the truth. Chevy is consistently behind. I think sales numbers were worse in July.

True.. No one is really buying the V6/T4 like the V6/EB Stangs.. With the sales down.. GM increased $500 to the 17 models lol.. and it's the same car!

Which means, why would Ford add more stuff and charge more if they are doing so well in sales? I think Ford is watching/learning from GM and won't change much for 2018

Guess we will see. Car critics have praised the Mustang, but are't praising it against competition. Majority pick the Camaro, but not as a DD.

The Camaro honestly wouldn't be a bad pick, but trying to make similar builds isn't easy. The cost drives up pretty quick in the Camaro's. Not to mention, looks like they're having some maintenance issues with them as well. Nothing as drastic as the C7s.

Yeah only time will tell I guess. But I do know, 90% of the people don't really care about the performance upgrades of the Camaro. They just want a good looking car for the cheapest price possible, period.

GM really went performance oriented and along with that had to raise the cost.

I don't think Ford will bump up the powerband or decrease the weight as much.. their main goal would be to change the fascia, a few things here and maybe, a 10-15 HP bump.

They would want to keep the cost as low as possible and if customers want more power, they can purchase the power pack as an option.

My 3 cents

The white "Mach 1" mule could well be a very early '18MY prototype, but clearly that one was using the stock '15-'17 bodywork.......I'll get properly excited when I see a mule with camo front n rear :)

Oh, and yes, mag-ride and active exhaust would be fine options on the '18 GT. Perhaps the Mach 1 could have these as standard.
Seems like you missed this topic?

I think minor exterior changes will happen. Perhaps more to differ it from the Fusion (so people can STOP saying it looks like a Fusion coupe (sigh)).

If they bump the power up that much, I'd honestly be pretty happy with that. If they match the Camaro (or come just below it) for less than cost. That'd be HUGE.

I couldn't imagine a decent EB boost either. It sits at 310 right now, boosting it to about 330 at stock would be NICE!

Definitely curious to what they will do.

Def.. that would be a good move if the HP output is close to 455 like the Camaro.. but no way the torque will be ~455 as well :( Especially since the power pack 3 is only 5 lb/trq increase)

Also to lose about 100-150 lbs Ford will have to replace some steel parts with aluminum and that will cost more as well.

My guess is a mild refresh, a diet and a small power bump.

Nope, didn't miss that one.

That's certainly the sort of camo I'd be expecting to see on an '18MY mule, although that one was spotted around 8 months ago and, seemingly, hasn't been spotted since. Was it an anomaly?

The tacked on lights really were rather weird though.....perhaps they were testing the required wiring for new LED headlamps, but it does seem an odd way to do it. And the current tail lamps are already LED, so that sorta throws that theory out of the window!

Perhaps they were just testing new camo :headbonk:

I absolutely love the look of the 2015 - Current cars.

I'd like to see them make changes to the weight, power level, and drivetrain.

The thing is with sales still decently high (but dropping) giving away too much information including mules would negatively affect sales would it not ?

So maybe they have become more careful, and a lot of testing can be done via simulations, wind tunnels and others fancy ways compared to years back ?

Absolutely. We won't hear anything official from Ford until a big Auto Show launch......and they will be as careful as always in ensuring the prototypes are kept hidden for as long as possible.

There's a fantastic piece in "A Faster Horse" where they mention the amount of development that is now done in the virtual world and they run the prototypes at night as much as possible, as well as in their private test facilities. The bit I loved the most was when they got to the point they had to drive them on public roads......Dave Pericak persuaded Tom Barnes to take out one of the camo'd prototypes for the first time. Tom came back with a "look" and when challenged just said "you'll see me on the internet tomorrow".

There's Tom :welcome: (sorry Tom :D )

People on the internet when they see these type of pictures...

"If you look at the bump 3/4 on the rear left side of the hood, pretty sure that means we are getting twin turbos this year!"

"Notice the extra fabric required to cover the rear quarter panel and bumper valance? Pretty sure that's the Fusion bumper"

"If you notice the rotational mass on the front wheel and how the image was snapped with a shutter speed of 1/1200, pretty sure that's indication that this is an A10 with AWD"
