Bought my 2018 Mustang GT in early December and the LCD Panel went out completely the first week in February. Was told part on back order in February and that ETA for part to come in was early April. In the mean time the Ford dealership that I took my vehicle to gave me a Ford Edge loaner - go figure! Have escalated this issue to the Ford Exec offices and have yet to get a response from them. Just wanted to post this so all are aware that this possibly could happen to you. Needless to say, I'm not too happy about this!

Are you talking about the center sync screen or 12" digital gauge cluster?

Why haven’t you filed for lemon law yet? More than 30 days out of commission is grounds in most states.

BUT EVERYONE HERE WAS TELLING ME THERE'S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!

This is my fear, especially if it happens during driving! Ford really needs to implement a HUD for the Mustang ASAP, IMO - as this way, if that gauge goes out, you'll at least still be able to safely drive with being able to see your current speed and other pertinent information via the HUD.

I love the "On back Order", how can something this new be on back order? Are they having that many problems with it (most likely not) or, are they just not sending it out so they can move product on the line. This has always been my fear with new technology and the rush to get it out their. The customer becomes the BETA test.

If you are really upset and want to get their attention, file a complaint with the BBB, in Dearborn. This complaint goes to corporate and they do not like hearing from the BBB. You can do this on line, at the BBB site for Dearborn.

Yep, and I stress again, you have nothing to worry about, how many have there been reports of the cluster failing? I'd say that's pretty good for 1 out of a few tens of thousands if not hundreds. It's like people being scared about their phone blowing up when there's only one report of a certain model having problems, and you don't know what caused it. If there were continuously reports of failing components and has confirmed it's not caused by user error, then you can start to worry.

No car has a 100% clean record on all it's parts things tend to break or have production defects. This isn't the first analog/digital cluster for a car to ever break.

Unless there is a ton of reported issues there is still nothing to worry about, it's no aircraft it's just a car if the screen stops working while you are driving it doesn't take long to stop the car or just go along with the rest of the traffic.

Wait, you can’t safely drive your car without a speedometer? Have you considered turning in your drivers license and getting something more suiting, like a bicycle? I’m sure someone could install an extremely reliable mechanical speedometer on a Schwinn for you...

You have ESP and know the speed you're going at all times? Okay. Have you considered playing the lottery with your psychic abilities?
Also... and this one is key... How much gas is left in the tank?
If you can't admit that there's a danger here, you're just being obstinate for the sake of being so, buddy.
The issue isn't if it happens while you're >20 minutes away from home, but if you're on a long 2+ hour trip.

Fill the tank every couple days, cell phone speedometer app ... good to go until it's fixed.

There will be all kinds of replies. If it were me that car would sit on the dealers lot till it was repaired properly and Ford would put me into a loaner until this issue is resolved . End of story.

Those displays are cool and all but i for see trouble in the future. Ford is doing all this cool electrical stuff like BMW, I can see many electrical problems in the future.

About the only time I look at my speedometer is to make sure I don't get a ticket when I think there may be a speed trap, it has nothing to do with safety - I know how fast I can safely drive based on the car and conditions, not what some gauge tells me.

As for fuel level, I drove a car for about 4 years that didn't have a working gas gauge, and only ran out of gas once, but I knew I was pushing it.

Lastly, this isn't exactly what you were asking about in the other thread. This wasn't some weird display issue, it was a completely failed part. And as has been said, any part can fail in small numbers, even an analog gauge, so you'll never be 100% certain you won't have problems, no matter what you have.

the difference here though is that one failed part wipes out ALL of your gauges. with old analog gauges the individual gauges themselves could fail but it didn't take out everything else with it.

so its a bit more serious than what might happen with the old gauges. but whether its a big deal if it happens is up for debate.
