My 2018 Mustang GT has ceramic coating, and the XPEL film.
With that in mind, I hand wash every fortnight. And, I often park rear first (unless in my garage).

Now that I have laid the initial details, let me explain. Yesterday, I took my car in to get the oil changed and tyre rotation.

With all businesses changing how things are done now, due to Covid-19, once my car was finished, no inspection was done by me, and I left.

Once I got home (right after the oil change, etcetera), I was about to wash the car. Then noticed the space separation between the headlight and bumper (see image). You can even see the clips.

I reviewed all the footage from my Garmin 55. However, the part where I think it happened, was not recorded. To me, when the car was being driven into the bay, something happened. Alas, when you power on the car, there is about a 30-60 second window where the camera is not recording (since it is 'coming on'). That is when I think it happened.

TLDR:
Do Mustang bumpers come loose over time? This was a comment from the dealer.
Curious on everyone's opinion...

Dunno about bumpers coming loose. Never heard of it. Seems bs.
Wish I never had to take my car in either.
I have had them cause damage and deny it as well. It’s how they roll.
Hope u can just clip it back.

To be honest, not sure.
However, the seam/joint was never perfect on either side of the bumper/headlight. The dealer removed the bumper and reinstalled it, with new clips. It looks better than when I first purchased the car.

The frightening thing to me, was the Service Manager telling me that this is expected. On a $42K car, I bloody think not, and hope not.

I have a 2017 and not a 2018+. But I feel like ive seen a few posts of people asking about gap near the headlight on a 2018+ car. Maybe its just something you never noticed on the car before today?

I appreciate the feedback. Alas, not a chance. I only hand wash my car; it has a XPEL film on it and ceramic coating.
Not being funny, but I know virtually every nick on that car. There was a gap. The issue is that right after the oil change and tyre rotation, that gap was considerably larger AND, the clips were now visible. That is the weird part.

My car has had this gap since it was brand new 2 years ago and it's very common on the '18+ Mustangs. I think there is a problem with the bumper molds from the factory. To me, it's not even worth trying to get it fixed because it's barely noticeable and I don't want to risk the dealer messing up and making something else worse. Yeah, panel gaps are not ideal on a $40k+ car, but you're paying for the performance and styling, not fit and finish quality. You want all 3? You'll have to pay twice the price of a Mustang...

Do you see any scuff marks at all anywhere on the front bumper area? Looks like they could have bumped into something just hard enough to release several of those clips.

Oddly, no. And, I will add, I have an XPEL film on the car. This is a self heal for marks and such.
It is all just rather weird, and I think I am more perturbed that nothing showed up on my Garmin 55. Now thinking what's the point of the thing - LOL

Mine is a 19, there are quite a few with this gap. Its only on the passenger side headlight. There is another post on this specifically.
