So I'm no expert at searching the new forum after the update (which is awesome by the way - props!) - but - I couldn't find how people are jacking the engine for jobs like headers, etc., on the 2018 cars. They have the plastic oil pan and the only way I can figure, at least on a manual car, is to position the jack at the end of the transmission bell housing area to the block just behind the oil pan and jack it up that way.

I would MUCH rather have the lifting pad UNDER the center of the engine - i.e. - the oil pan area, but I fear it would crack/split.

Where are you placing your jack to raise the engine enough to clear the motor mount studs when doing work like this guys? Pictures or just how you did it would be great. I used the bell housing to gain an inch or maybe an inch and a half of height for lowering the oil pan yesterday but I'm not sure that's a great way to get real height.

Make yourself a little jig and jack at the trans.

I have seen people still do the corners of the composite pan but mine was done using the trans.

Right on guys thank you. I used the bell-housing - ill try to upload a pic. I didnt lift it any higher than it was but was able to get the passenger motor mount out no problem as it was. Might have to go up and down some to get some of the bolts though so im open to ideas that have worked.

The 10R80 has more room between the motor and trans looking at that picture - that looks like a great way to do it on the auto cars. Ill confirm but I dont think i have more than a fingers width between motor and trans.

The small piece of wood rests up against the trans pan to keep the vertical 2x4 from flipping sideways. There's only a couple inches there or so but may be different with the manual trans like you mentioned.

Here's the MT82 situation in photos - no metal to hook up to like the auto it seems - why plastic ford? Lol

Indeed different, but as long as you stay on the trans you look to be good.

So when you get all the nuts off and the manifolds free to come out but the studs sre the hang up ... are you guys pulling the studs out to get the manifold off and then reinstalling the studs again once the header is in place?

I did have to take some studs out and reinstall. Also try to pull the engine to the driver side/passenger side as needed to remove. If you are going to pull studs, work them out a bit, then back in, then back out until removed.

Thanks man - good call. At the kids battle royale nerf gun war for the neighbors birthday but ill try that when i get back in the garage. I can defintely shift it some and that would make a lot of difference i bet.

I loosened up the ac compressor but didn't completely remove it to buy some space. I also removed the ac line bracket on the passenger side frame rail and instead zip tied the bageebus out of it to the fender to keep it from contacting the header and causing knock.

Nerf war sounds pretty cool, :bandit:

Sounds like ive got the solutions now ^^^ its hard to believe im saying that im actually EXCITED to get back to my header install lol. Its really not as bad as people led me to believe, but it definitely is a chunk of work. Im just glad others have done it before me for the suggestions!

And on the NERF side... holy hell those new nerf guns zing...

I bought an E8 ratchet box wrench to do my install. Made stud r&r easier. Would have been better if it was flex head.
