Hey, watched this video and apparently this guy is saying his dealership told him that Ford has acknowledged that the current clutch in the 2018 manual cars are defective and can not handle the stock power levels of the car. He mentions there might be a recall and that all 18 manuals can be brought in for an updated/revised clutch.

Anyone else hear of this issue/TSB? my 18 is going into production next week and this makes me kind of worried that when its built and delivered it will need a brand new clutch right away. Hopefully they will put in the updated and revised clutch from the factory if this news is true.

Check out the video.

I also searched everywhere on the net and could not find it. Trying to find out if this is actually a real thing with all 18's or if this is just an isolated incident with him.

I’ll shit if ford recalls or does a TSB on this. Myself and many others with 15’s have had discs blow apart, springs break on the discs and such. I’m on my 3rd clutch now. My car is not drag raced, pounded on or having missed shifts. I’m not new to manuals either. Some of us are or have had issues with these breaking.

Ford is very aware of these issues and has chose to do nothing about it.

I was told by my dealer that Ford won’t do a recall because it’s not a safety issue.

Im about to trade in my 17 GT PP for something else. When leaving traffic lights the clutch feels like it slipping. I dont drag race anymore than anyone else who owns a GT. This is just one problem amongst other things. Nothing as major as the clutch but the little things add up and i needed this car to last at least 10 years. The brembos are brutal to. If they arent squealing like little pigs then they are grinding. My problem is i love the car. Its beautiful inside and out but i dont think this car was built to last. I already have rust on my door hinges.

I linked this forum on a Jalopnik article about how the Mustang is outselling the competition. I simply said that although they're fun cars, they can be plagued with issues. People dismissed all these threads as only handfulls in hundreds of thousands built.

The truth is that alot of these issues are repeating among tons of cars. AC issue for example. You can't say that's just a random problem. Hood corrosion, the ticking, the panel gaps, the sync issues, vibration, etc... They all have hundreds of reported issues. It's easy to dismiss these until you have them yourself.

If you go back and watch the "launch control" videos from this guy, and see how he dumps the clutch. You will understand why and how he broke his car. I hate how people try and blame Ford, when problems are caused by driver error and severly beating on the car.

I'm currently shopping for a 2018 GT Premium and I have officially stopped due to the issues I am reading and seeing on this car. Wow. It's one thing to have a new car that needs a software update or a door latch that needs to be re-aligned but are talking about a major power train component failing at 2000k miles! Is this how Ford rolls? And people seem to accept it as part of Mustang ownership? Really? Uneven body panels and gaps, bad or incomplete paint jobs, A/C units failing and more? I've owned over 20 cars in my life of many brands ( mostly Japanese and european and now I know why) and I have never encountered these kinds of issues. Ever.

This case might not have been Ford. The youtube user has many videos of him dumping the clutch.

This is a bullshi$&&@ post. There is no TSB just more fear mongering.

Not another mustang6g thread bashing the 2018.

Moderators should be closing threads like these. I only came here because I thought an actual TSB was documented here.

You can thank the paranoid freaks on this site for the fear. My 18 is absolutely wonderful. My only regret is reading the shit on this site.

I hear you but Ford did not issue a TSB and create a new part fix kit because of a few negative posts on-line. It's a real world issue on a major drive train component and there is no justifying that in 2018. I'm not bashing the car. I want one. In my opinion it's the best looking, best performing ( if it stays screwed together ) premium sports car on the market right now but if its capable of blowing a tranny under normal operating conditions then thats a big problem. You can bet that the 2019's that are rolling to dealerships now have newer better parts in that gear box. I'm going to see if the car I want to buy can be retro-fitted with the new parts that Ford is now shipping to dealers for a fix if the car fails. Again.. this situation would not exist if there was no real issue. And while you hopefully will never have an issue I would bet money if you were shopping you'd be looking for more information.
