I'm helping a friend install active exhaust. He has everything connected and ready. I did the forscan. He has the relay and the fuse. He is only missing the tune. My question is since active exhaust is a stock feature would I be able to flash a calibration file from a vehicle with active exhaust using forscan beta? (I'm here to learn)
You can not flash calibration files via forscan. You will need to use HPTuners or PCMtech with appropriate device to alter your current calibration to activate the feature. I used HPTuners and it was as simple as toggling two 'switches' to get things running.

You can flash calibration files with forscan beta, I did a digital cluster firmware (I'm not sure if it's possible for the PCM, that's why I was asking) I'll send you a picture when I have the time

But how much money would it be to buy the tune from HP tuners if you aren't tuned or anything (full factory)

Oh man this thread is the best! Can't wait to do it on my 2019 GT. Mine came with both the plug and the fuses. Also just bought the OEM valved mufflers including the actuators and the harnesses from a local guy for only $50!

Is there a way to get it working on the 2019 without getting a tune/tuner?

Don’t really need a tune, if you know someone with an hptuner device or can find someone with one. Have them turn the feature on in the pcm if it not already turned on.

Does anyone know if these dots in the actuator control lines (splices) are connected to any additional wires at those points, or are they just factory splice joints?

To be fair even though you are not changing performance parameters you need more than the handheld tuner and software. Appropriate amount of credits will have to be purchased to be able to upload modified stock tune and in Ford's eyes will still put any warranty at risk...

After going through the entire thread, I couldn’t find a single post where someone managed to get the active exhaust working through the dashboard without initially having the fuse and relay in the fuse box.

Has anyone actually been able to do this?

I happen to be one of the “lucky ones” - my 2018 Ecoboost Mustang Premium with Digital Dash has neither the relay nor the fuse. On top of that, most of the wiring required for the system to function is missing from the car.

However, for some reason, there is a section of wiring running from under the spare tire area (C3806) to both the driver’s (C264) and passenger’s (C215) footwell.

I’ve marked in green the part of the wiring that came from the factory and purple what I managed to add (Y-harness and 2 actuator jump-wires).
My plan is to add the missing wires and pins so everything looks and works as close to factory-standard as possible.

So far I ordered proper Fuse Junction Box and going to source components from it.

If anyone has advice, tips, or experience with this, I’d really appreciate it!

I bought a fuse box with the required fuse, relay, and wiring — no problem adding that to my car.

But… I discovered that my 2018 EcoBoost has different ECU connectors compared to what was shared in this thread (90 pins). Mine body-to-ecu connector - C175B that has more pins (103).

At the moment, I’m trying to figure out the pinout, but I have a feeling this model of ECU might not have exhaust control pins at all.

I’ll attach a picture of my connectors. Perhaps someone has the pinout and could share it?

Active exhaust wasn't available for Ecoboost until MY 2019 unlike GT I'm afraid... this might explain why.

I added and activated the active exhaust to a 2019 today successfully.

I added the factory mufflers, actuators, and harnesses. Enabled active exhaust in the cluster using Forscan, and enabled the active exhaust in the tune using HPTuners.

In HP Tuners it is just a few check boxes to enable Active Exhaust 1 and 2. That was it.

Nothing else was needed and it flips through the settings in the cluster and adjusts the valves while driving just like factory.
Do I need a tune for 2020 gt?
