The DI engine on my wife's Acura MDX makes a noticeable ticking sound at idle. Loud enough that I thought something was wrong when we first got it. You can't hear it when driving just when stopped at a light or when starting up in the garage. I don't really notice it much now that I know what the sound is.Although I have defended other aspects of the '18, that engine cover is ugly. I wonder why. Maybe additional sound insulation? Is DI known to be noisy?
That line to me indicates the highest rev since the car was on, like a marker.Interesting look at the gauges, thanks for sharing. I wonder if the 4k "limiter" is because the engine is cold or because the car is still on it's break-in period?
Engine cover still doesn't look good, but if it gets rid of the DI tick it'll be worth it. Those of us that leave our motors stock probably don't pop the hood at car shows anyway so "out of sight, out of mind".
It's digital. How do you know it doesn't change with the driving mode? Why the speedo goes only up to 160 mph? Ford you are bumping the hp, torque, and rev limit on this car with a speed limiter up to 160 mph? Not even 180 mph? I have no words :frusty:
You and about .00001% of actual drivers care about what's hidden 99.9% of the time. It's ugly but so what? Know one has seen the final product that will be on the lot. Could be a simple placeholder while the testing vehicles are out and about.I think the engine bay is just as important as the exterior.
In reality in the typical driving mode, it should be much less given you can't legally go that fast under any circumstances. I agree, the other driving modes probably display a much higher limit given their intended for nonpublic roads. It's digital. How do you know it doesn't change with the driving mode?
The gauges on the corvette red line @ 4000 rpm until you hit 500 miles. Maybe the mustang is the same.Interesting look at the gauges, thanks for sharing. I wonder if the 4k "limiter" is because the engine is cold or because the car is still on it's break-in period?
