First look at th 2018 5.0 engine cover. What do you guys think? (taken from upr instagram)
Wow. That's hideous! Looks like it should have a Mercedes Tri-star on it. Can't even tell it's a V8! Now I'm starting to see why so many don't want a 2018. Between the underhood view and the nose. Yuck!

Its because of the new engine design. The DI engine without it on top may not even look nice. Yet it functions sweet. Placement of the engine components. The suitcase cover is there for a reason. Mustang just caught up with the times. Win loose or draw on the cover. Its 460 hp under there . That's whats important. Just my 2 cents.:bolt::headbang:
It's more for sound insulation than covering up ugliness.

First page.

Sound deadening for the DI system.
You sure about that?

I am thinking sound deadening for the DI/PI would be better achieved by hood insulation, not a plastic engine cover.

I just think they aesthetically failed at trying to hide the "industrial" look of the engine, as well as connectors/wiring -- granted, this is the F150, but the Mustang cam covers will likely look almost exactly the same --

It is hideous! It is just covering up the ugly mess. Remember the 1986 mustang GT? Ford went to extensive lengths to make sure that engine compartment was uncluttered. This is in the completely opposite direction.

Who would be interested in a dress up kit made out of composite parts that look either stainless steel or aluminum, that would be easy enough to install that someone with basic tools could do it? I sure would. I’m gonna start working on this I think.

Help me out. I want to design a kit that will replace that stupid plastic shield with a nice set of ā€œvalve cover coversā€, that won’t require removal of the actual valve covers to install. It will be purely cosmetic and suitable for installation with basic tools. Kit would include all of the parts and instructions to make the kit work.

We have prototypes. We are looking for people/firms cable of assisting with prototype development, moulding, casting and producing additional prototypes that we can trim and fit for wider applications. If all is good we can discuss production scale ups.

I’m not sure that’ll help the problem that much. The rest of the top of the 2018 engine is just really nasty with all the hoses and weird looking valve covers. I completely understand why they put the big plastic cover on there after looking at the engine
