So I read this article reviewing quarter mile times of past production unmodified Mustangs and it stated that the A10 2018 to 2021 is the 3rd fastest production Mustang ever. With the 2020 and 2013 GT500 being faster. It reviewed the times of others but they all did have slower quarter mile times then the A10. Is this true forum members? Just wanting to confirm if the article missed something?

Sounds about right. The only other competitor I would think is the outgoing GT350, but with it being manual it's not any faster even with more power.

2013 GT500 was a manual trans.
yea but it was just special sub 12 car even with manual. The Gt350 appears to be close but all times are 12+.Which means you have to be technically perfect when running against an A10. Back in the day no one would ever buy an auto but now …your just slower .. maybe more fun .., but slower.

Well at least the two fastest was a Manual & DCT (essentially a automated manual).

That's a win/win in my book ha-ha.

Is the Mach 1 not faster than the GT in the quarter?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe not since it’s got some extra weight with the extra coolers. Offsets the extra 20hp

When I traded my 17 with a manual for a Mach 1, I purposely wanted one with an A10 for this very reason.

BTW if you remove the carbon trap on the 22 and 23's you get back the 10 hp you lost from the 18-21's and they are just as fast.

Yea this article was written before the Mach 1 but it appears that even with 20 HP more its set up with A10 is approx the same as the A10 GT. Most tests show the following with some right at 12.0. Weight is about the same ..but Mach is like 30 lb more.
  • 0-60 mph: 4.1 seconds (3.8 seconds with 1-foot rollout)
  • Quarter mile: 12.2 seconds @ 113.8 mph
  • 60-0 mph braking: 94 feet
  • Skidpad: 1.10 g

We may look back in the future and find the 2018-2021 A10 GT to be the high watermark for Mustang straight line performance(not counting the ultra expensive GT500's).

What I have never understood is why Ford has been pushing the Ecoboost genre(I have owned an EBM) yet still never did a GT Ecoboost twin turbo V8.

Imagine the next GT500 with a 800 hp twin turbo Coyote!

Cost/complexity/throttle response.
